Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I really don't want to see any more Wolverine any time soon. Even if they introduce the X-men, I want them to focus on pretty much everyone BUT Wolverine. I never got this obsession with Wolverine anyway, but I also think that it is better to wait until there is truly an appetite for a new version of him.
There's a lot to the X-Men beyond that.
Yeah. There's nearly being rendered extinct and being nearly wiped out by Sentinels and being nearly wiped out by the Inhumans....
Edit: I also agree with the give Wolverine a break angle. I don't hate him, but I do admit he's kinda stolen the thunder from his fellow X-people for far too long. His so-called popularity is probably the biggest reason he's actually pretty unpopular, which isn't anything new mind you.

One Strip! One Strip!Agents of Shield had the best Inhumans take in that they were almost basically just X Men
Still though. Quake fun.
Also Squirrel Girl is probably going to be in that New Warriors show Marvel is shopping around
Forever liveblogging the AvengersUnless he did something scummy behind the scenes (perfectly plausable, this is Hollywood, after all), I think saying one "despises" an actor just because you don't like their interpretation of a character seems a touch too far.
That aside, yes to no more Wolverine for a while, Nightcrawler needs his time in the sun, paradoxical as though that sentence may be. It's not even the character, either: Hugh Jackman has left such an impression whoever comes along will have impossibly big shoes to fill.
I also think they should keep Xavier as a behind-the-scenes presence at first, and only introduce Magneto later. I do wish they keep the characterization from the Singer movies with them, particularly Xavier. None of that ephebophilia and manipulative bastardry bullshit, thank you very much.
Yes to Xavier being a good person. The comics gave him so many dark secrets that it ruined him. I get that he didn't need to be perfect, but there's a fine line between flawed and secretly a manipulative asshole and a fuck up.
One Strip! One Strip! He was kind of a manipulative asshole from the start
All later reveals did was confirm it for modern readers less familiar with stuff like him letting a shapeshifter die in his place so he could fight Lucifer

That was a Retcon.
I don't care what anyone says: they went overboard with the Charles did a bad thing reveals. It tainted everything he did to the point where it's no wonder the X-Men's cause seems pointless.
They kept shooting the messenger over and over again, until the message was also bullet ridden.
I like nice Xavier. He should stay. He should make mistakes and be flawed, but not a complete jackass.
One Strip! One Strip!I agree that Xavier being a good person is for the best. He's meant to be a Martin Luthor King Jr stand-in, and while MLK had a few flaws, he was also a wonderful person and a hero.
He first met the Lizard in the Everglades, somehow he showed up in Mexico just in time to save the Avengers from a Spider-Man robot, and went to the Savage Land with Jameson and Gwen Stacy
He also went to Algeria investigating whether or not his parents were traiters working for HYDRA (they were actually double-agents working for SHIELD).
Soble leaps into the fray!
The editing on this is slick, and, feeling a little desensitized lately towards the action in these movies, reminded me just how batsh-t these films are. They captured the scene of Cap and T'Challa racing ahead of the crowd during the fight with the Black Order
perfectly.
The song is from Naruto Shippuden's sixteenth opening

He was a fine enough first try back in the day when superhero films weren't really held to any standards and were just considered goofy niche films. But the Spider-Man actors have only improved since his day.
