Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Nobody, but I feel like it would screw up continuity to say that, "Oh, these folks that were acting completely normal during Infinity War [for example] were actually Skrulls in ultra-deep cover." What I'm saying is that we could introduce the Secret Invasion after Endgame wraps up as a new story, with a fresh infiltration.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Is it confirmed that the Black Widow movie is going to be an origin story/prequel? The same continuity issues pertain there as they would anywhere else: it would be weird for her to learn that Skrulls are infiltrating the planet and then hang out with the Avengers for years with no mention of it whatsoever. Now, if her movie is set after Endgame, then sure, it would be an ideal plot.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
No it isn't. There are fans who still want to know what happened in Budapest, and I really, really hope that Marvel won't listen to them and instead move forward with the character. Not that I would mind some flashbacks. But I think with the limitation they put on the Scrulls it is made pretty clear that it would be near impossible for them to hide for THAT long.
Until we actually see Endgame, it's almost impossible to say what will happen to the overall MCU story. Spider-Man: Far From Home notwithstanding, what happens there will define the course of the universe moving forward, so it's way too early to start making predictions about which plots Phase 4 will use.
FFH presents a unique quandary, of course. Sony doesn't want to be locked into continuity with the rest of the MCU, but it's impossible to see that trailer and conclude anything other than that Endgame pushes a universal Reset Button, possibly with a few missing heroes (depending on the fate of the OG Avengers).
This saddens me because it feels like it cheapens Infinity War.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Will they, though? In the FFH trailer, Peter certainly doesn't act like someone who went to space, fought a Mad Titan, died, then magically came back to life a few hours ago.
I know I'm probably overthinking this, but the tone is completely incongruent.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It will be like Secret Wars (2015) in the Marvel Universe: people will remember that the world almost ended, but then it didn't and they kept going on with their lives.

But you have still those characters who had this deeply traumatic experience.
Though for me it doesn't matter anyway. Infinity war will still mean the same to me because I will always feel with the characters on screen and they don't know that there will be a way out. Well, other than Doctor Strange that is. Who, btw, will remember too, since he always sees all options.
For Tony, though? Yes, Tony will definitely still be traumatized.

I feel like they had a specific purpose in mind when they decided on the world trip angle but I for the life of me couldn't tell you what it is.
This song needs more love.Making MCU Peter a more worldly character? Giving him a "fish out of water" character development angle? Keeping him away from the Avengers as a justification for them to stay away from his standalone film?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

Who says that they have done it for 20 years?
