Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Speaking of Men in Black, wasn't that a Marvel comic at one point?
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!I got mixed feelings on that comic. On the one hand, I do like it better when the MIB are good guys rather than actively violent (I mean, we have enough shady morally dubious organizations in fiction as it is). On the other hand, I feel it'd have been fun if the movie MIB dealt with all supernatural things like they did in the comics rather than just aliens.
Makes sense. It also strongly implies that the Infinity Stones will be taken out of the picture after Endgame, one way or another.
I wonder about something: it has been stated that Captain Marvel will have limitations during the film to prevent her from singlehandedly solving the plot. Could that be because her powers derive from the Space Stone, and Thanos has it?
Also, if the Stones are destroyed or depowered in some fashion, would that permanently affect characters like Carol and Wanda, who were empowered by them to begin with? Wanda didn't die or dissolve or anything like that when she destroyed the Mind Stone, of course, but neither did we see her do anything afterwards.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"![]()
I'm thinking we might get the Illuminati (we already have three of them) and each one takes and hides an Infinity Stone away from the others.
Though I don't know who would take the other three.

This song needs more love.
Well, yeah, it would make no sense for her to be stronger than Thanos + Gauntlet in a direct confrontation. I'm just going by what's been publicly stated. If this climaxes with the most powerful Avengers all focusing beams of energy on Thanos to overwhelm him, I'll feel a bit cheated, since that's exactly how Age of Ultron ended.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Without question, Jameson has already typed up a front-page article about Spider-Man interfering with the New York fight. Iron Man had everything under control and also some dude in a cape was there, but then Spider-Man showed up and screwed everything up. Did you see him dangling by a webstrand, ineffectually trying to tug the cape guy away? Completely unprofessional. And embarrassing.
Spider-Man should have left it to the professionals, he didn't, and now half of the planet is dead. Because he had to get in Iron Man's way and ruin everything. Spider-Man is a greater threat to this planet than the aliens that attacked New York a decade ago. (Do we know anything about that, by the way? Connections between this invasion and that one? Nothing? Okay.) DOESN'T MATTER. What matters is that Spider-Man doomed us all.
...
Meanwhile, Aunt May has been frantically trying to get a hold of Happy Hogan and find out why Peter never came home and if anyone actually saw him turn to dust like so many people. He has no answers for her.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That's just not nice. Too bad JJJ does not [yet] canonically exist in the MCU.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Honestly, I doubt it? Cuz I believe the stones are definitely gonna be depowered or destroyed, but I can't see Carol or Wanda losing their powers permanently (and I sure hope they don't!). Also I imagine their physiologies are permanently altered by the stones anyway. I don't really see the destruction of the stones undoing that.
Also, I kinda doubt the climax of the movie will be about them defeating Thanos anyway. The snap is done already. And even if they manage to get the Infinity Gauntlet off of Thanos after defeating him, will it even work again? I don't really think there will be another threat introduced or anything, but I guess that's still possible also. (shrug)
OUCH, dude!

When we're done, there won't be anything left. And of course in Regular Marvel, if you destroy a stone, that destroys the aspect of the Universe it embodies.
My various fanfics....how do you destroy time? How would the universe even look like?
I imagine it would be like a dragon break in The Elder Scrolls, where the linear progression of events and the laws of cause and effect cease to exist, children give birth to their fathers, wars are simultaneously won, lost, and prevented through diplomacy, etc.

Just cast him and then never explain it
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
