Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

I wonder what the stinger for this film will be. It would be a fun callback to show all the MCU heroes eating Shwarma. Also, even though it's unlikely, I think a good idea for the end credits would be to pull a Rocky 5 and have a montage of memorable MCU moments, from Iron Man to Endgame.

Only seeing CM at the end of the month, if at all, but I already know most of the plot points anyway.

I haven't been able to schedule a viewing of it yet. It's not as easy to coordinate things anymore.

Well, we're already seeing parodies of the trailer (language)

What did I just watch?

And yes, I guess Nick Fury is in every Marvel movie that year. No, there isn't one missing, there will be a long, loooooong gab after Far From Home, at least regarding the movies. I am not quite sure when Disney intends to release the first Marvel Studio produced Tie-in show.

If we just want 'younger heroes' they could possibly composite Young Avengers, Avengers Academy and Champions. Would have to throw out a lot of characters but you could probably really game the fan-favourites and throwing in some Academy elements could reduce the problem YA and Avengers-just-before-Champions had (in the former, they were told to stop by the adult Avengers and only really gained permission when it became clear they'd do it without while in the later, it isn't addressed much but the whole 'kid heroes are actually child endangerment' angle is easily pointed to).

[up] Yeah, in their place, I would pretty much throw Young Avengers and Avengers Academy together, too. I mean it would kind of make sense to actually train young people with power instead of letting them lose on the world. And they will pick and chose the members and storylines anyway.

Btw, when I talk about a James Bond Style Black Widow movie, I mean classic James Bond, not modern James Borne.

Like Jonah Hex?
Yes but like... good. Okay, I haven't actually seen it yet, but I did not hear great things.

Eh...I prefer the designs they went with.

Has anyone actually watched Jonah Hex?

I meant Jonah Hex the comic book character, not the crappy movie^^ The movie pretty much was In Name Only.

Btw, when I talk about a James Bond Style Black Widow movie, I mean classic James Bond, not modern James Borne.

I know, that's why I'd actually like that. I mean, modern James Bond movies are basically spy thriller, and we already got that with Winter Soldier. But Classic James Bond, only with a female protagonist? I could get into that.

[up][up][up][up][up] That picture is very cool, but I'm glad they went with a more relatable outfit and profile for her.

For the people who have watched, does Carol ever sports the mohawk from the comics? 'Cause I really love the mohawk.

Just her little smirk is reason enough to watch the movie. Or to rewatch the Endgame trailer….

The Mohawk is a cool costume moment, as long as it's not overused, and we see much more of Carol without her helmet than with it. Indeed, by the end of the film, she doesn't need it at all. For as much time as it appears on screen, it admirably serves its purpose of providing fanservice to dedicated comic fans.
