Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

On another note, I'd just like to agree that, yes, Brendan Fraser is an amazing actor.
My various fanfics. What? What does Winnie the Pooh have to do with any of this?
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Silhouette, while a decent song in it’s own right, is a hella overrated OP; Sign and Closer GOAT (for Shippuden, anyways).
If anything, Thanos movie should be using Death Note’s first OP
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyOk this if funny. Apparently some people got mad that Carol is using a bit of make-up in the Endgame trailer. Or at least i assume that's something the Anti-Captain Marvel crowd is trying to portray.
Are these people really that petty? Wow, i wonder how they took the news about Gunn returning if they are that petty
Uni catFor what little they had to work with, that was good. Smart of them to go the route of "OP showing the characters dealing with the events of the previous season(?)" as a way to justify putting in flashbacks to the previous Avengers movies. The only bit that looked off (for obvious reasons) was the quick pan over the concept art image.
We do have an Endgame thread of sorts here
although it's within the context of post-Infinity War speculation.
Looks like Captain Marvel is projected to make 69.3 million in it's second weekend in North America.
That's about a 55% drop from the opening weekend, which is pretty normal for the kind of movie Captain Marvel is. I believe anything below a 60% drop is generally considered a successful second weekend for movies with 100+ million openings.
Worldwide it's total is (assuming Sunday estimates are accurate) is up to 760 millon. Really starting to look like it might cross the billion dollar line before it's run is wrapped up.

Yeah, can we just start ignoring them? It's not worth it. They thrive on attention, positive or negative.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yes and no. On the one hand: I make a point of not clicking their videos if I can avoid it (sometimes it is hard to tell if you stumbled over a proper review or essay or more of this nonsense). On the other hand: I want this to be remembered! I want that everyone is aware of how much they attacked Captain Marvel before it was released and how much they tried to push an alternative narrative, and that all their efforts did nothing than perhaps ensure that even more people went to see Captain Marvel (and, I guess, Alita: Battle Angle). I want that every knows how ridiculous they act! Because soon they will move towards another movie - most likely Star Wars Episode 9 - and spread their hatred again while pretending that their motives are completely pure and that they just speak for the fans who have more honest grievances with the direction the Star Wars movies took.
Because frankly, ignoring is the approach a lot of people took at the beginning, and it only lead to them growing strong and stronger.
That's a good point. The trolls have bitched about every major female-led movie in the past decade, but the only time anyone remembers it is the new Ghostbusters, because they were seemingly right. (note: the new Ghostbusters being a mediocre adaptation has nothing to do with it being female-led) They insisted that Wonder Woman would be terrible, and then slunk back into the shadows when it was good. So now people don't talk about how they were hideously wrong about that.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. And this time they went so far overboard that I hope everyone will remember!!! I mean, they are already spreading the narrative that they NEVER claimed that Captain Marvel would lose Disney money (while also peddling their conspiracy theories). It's pathetic, but I think we need to point it out because you can BET that the same people who say now "black Widow deserved it more" will line up next year to explain why a Black Widow movie is doomed to fail.
@Infinity War Opening: I remember sharing that a few times some months ago. Still a big fan. Especially how they worked with the Infinity Stones.
@Endgame Opening: Instead of that concept art pan, they should've used the Avengers walking through the hangar in those suits. They also should've used a bit of Rocket in that regret montage, and a shorter song. Carol's lenghty clip and Thanos' ending clips were somewhat jarring.
As for the trolls, why aren't they complaining that no one is smiling on the Endgame poster?

On a slightly different note, in the Captain Marvel Spoiler discussion a topic came up which I think suits this thread better: Other genre we want the MCU to explore. So, someone wished that Shang-Chi will fall into the wǔxiá genre, there is a lot of demand for a musical and I add my own desire for the Black Widow movie being a Bond Style spy movie with a LOT of fun inserted into it.
Genres the MCU hasn't explored yet include Western, Pirate movie and Sword and Sandal (unless you count part of Ragnarök, I guess), and a good old fashioned crime story.
But I am sure that there are more.
I like the idea of a Pirate movie set in space.

Looks like Heimdall found himself a new job.
