Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I usually watch movies when they come out with the exception of GOTG 2, since I didn't care for the first one, and Doctor Strange, which didn't grab me with the trailers and which I'm glad I didn't spend any money on. Those two I watched later at a friend's house.
I started watching them in theaters with the first Captain America movie. I saw Avengers, The Winter Soldier, Iron Man 3, Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man in theaters, but skipped The Dark World as I hadn't seen the first Thor yet for context.

Saw in theaters: Iron Man 1,2, and 3, Captain America First Avenger and Civil War, All Avengers, Thor: Dark World and Ragnarok, Both Guardians, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man Homecoming. I saw Hulk, Winter Soldier, Thor 1 (which I saw AFTER Avengers), Black Panther (again AFTER Infinity War, which answered some questions I had about certain characters) and Ant-Man and the Wasp on video. However, I only own the first Iron Man, Winter Soldier, the first Avengers, and Guardians 1. I should rectify that, but I dont need to own every movie in the MCU yet.

I couldn't even begin to remember which MCU films I've seen in theaters. I can say that the only ones I have not seen at all are The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2. Recently, I've only seen Avengers: Infinity War and Captain Marvel (2019) in theaters.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Leading off the comment someone made a few pages ago about the Russos having a history of lying...
Does anyone else think they weren't telling the truth about the Guardians' role in the film being unaffected? There are way too many reasons why it would be easier to just scrap those characters and move on (the whole James Gunn thing and the fallout with Dave Bautista, who it looks like is now back on the wrestling circuit for an extended period; Chris Pratt being involved in a homophobic megachurch that has a history of cult-like behavior; the fact that they can't seem to find anyone who wants to direct it, etc.)
Anyone else think they were lying just to ensure people weren't disappointed until AFTER they're already in the theater?

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it.So Thor and Captain Marvel are going to be friends. Subtle.
I always knew that Thanos would be dethroned whatever it takes but I kind of liked seeing the bad guy "win" for once. It's going to be kind of sad to see that taken away from him.
The closest a villain's come to victory is either Killmonger for changing T'Challa, or Ultron for sinking Sokovia.
I suppose Kingpin is also in the running for coming close, but, he's in jail. Well actually he's probably dust by now.
EDIT: Ah, yes, Dormmamu. But if you want to get technical about it he was neither close nor far from victory due to the time loop.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Spider-Man is actually on the Endgame poster.

I think your the first person who’s apparently seriously saying those characters should stay dead.
And even if Peter’s had 5 movies I don’t T’Challa to only headline.
I like Shuri but I don’t want to see her as BP now. She’s not cut out for it.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Wait, what was that about Chris Pratt being involved in a homophobic megachurch cult?
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!
Hillsong Church. It's also popular among young Hollywood celebs for some reason.
Hillsong also has a history of child abuse, btw.
And just last month, Chris Pratt tried to defend Hillsong when Ellen Page called him out for attending it by claiming it's not anti-LGBTQ. When it pretty clearly is.

Disgusted, but not surprisedFor starters, Hillsong used to "suggest" gay conversion therapy to gay churchgoers. They disavowed it eventually...in 2011.
They still advocate that marriage is only between a man and a woman. They confirm they don't support the lifestyle of gay people and thus do not knowingly have any gay people in positions of leadership.
Disgusted, but not surprisedFirst MCU movie I saw was Iron Man in theaters, saw everything up to Guardians of the Galaxy on TV, which I did watch in theaters, then another TV period until Homecoming came out, then I watched Black Panther in theaters, and I've watched everything save for Captain Marvel that's come out in theaters since.
(And that's just because I haven't had the chance to watch it yet)
Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.

I know the first MCU movie I watched in theaters was Iron Man 3. I think I watched GOTG (the first one), AOU, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity War, and Captain Marvel in theaters. The movies I haven't watched at all I believe are The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World, and uh. I kinda feel like I don't ever want to, haha.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.
