Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Me before seeing the trailer: you know, I don't think I care about the OG Avengers anymore. Me, after seeing the trailer: (crying) Steeeeve, Thor!
Also I love that Carol and Thor immediately get along haha.
And is that girl Clint is teaching archery to Kate?
When we're done, there won't be anything left.My comments on that trailer:
1. Would Carol only appearing at the end of the trailer be that to make sure people who have yet to touch her movie be spoiled?
2. Why did Thor get a flashback to his origin movie? I mean, I get that Tony and Steve had to because one of them or both might bite it for keeps but why Thor? I mean, I can understand somewhat that him having to die is to also signify the end of the current chapter in the MCU as a whole after this upcoming movie but other than that, have we heard something about Chris Hemworth announcing that he wishes to leave the MCU?

Forever liveblogging the Avengers
x4 I think that's his daughter. That said, is there a precedence in the comic for Kate being Clint's daughter?
No, comics Kate Bishop is the daughter of a wealthy family. She only takes after Clint in a role model fashion. That said, there's nothing stopping the adaptation from making her "Kate Barton". That's the magic of adaptation.

Hmm, you're probably right. And Kate isn't Clint's daughter in the comics, and it'd probably change quite a bit to make her Clint's daughter in the MCU. Then again, that doesn't mean they can't make it so in the MCU.
Edit: Oh lol,

When we're done, there won't be anything left.No I don’t think so
In 616 she’s entirely unrelated except he saved her from kidnappers when she was a child and in Ultimate she was the child of two Hydra fanatics because Bendis hates me personally. Dunno about any other universes
As far as I know mainstream Clint has never managed to have children because his various relationships tend to implode and Black Widow had all his ultimate children killed because Mark Millar is my enemy
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, that was a neat little trailer.
But y'know, I haven't really felt hyped for a Marvel film since the Thor:Ragnarok trailer. Maybe I should give a little break.
BTW, yeah, that was just Stormbreaker in a different angle.
x3 Wait, what's the name of Clint's dautgher in Ao U?

Your feelings are completely valid. What has me, personally, so hyped about Endgame is that it's the culmination of all of the character and story arcs that we've been building over the past 11 years. No matter how much superhero fatigue I might be feeling, I must watch this film to see where it all ends, because I genuinely care about all of these characters. Marvel has earned that from me.
Phase 4 may or may not hook me in: I'm keeping an open mind. But Endgame owns my soul.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Were the names of the older children mentioned in Age of Ultron? Because considering that Clint's family was "in hiding" so to speak, her name actually could be Kate Bishop instead of Barton. And even if she was named, they can always say that Kate is her second name or something like that. In any case, does anyone else get the impression that they sneaky built up towards young Avengers? We already have two possible candidates.
Okay, that answers the question...

So far as superhero fatigue goes, I've been hearing people talking about this since Iron Man 3. On an individual level, everyone gets sick of things or needs a break from time to time. On the large scale, however, it's never really panned out as a major market influence.
I think, if Wonder Woman and Aquaman's box office figures are anything to go by, that film audiences are still not getting tired of seeing superheroes on the big screen. Not by a longshot. Those two films are uninfluenced by the build to Avengers: Endgame and still sold like gangbusters.
I think superhero films are going to be around until the heat death of the universe. Especially now that DC's finally jumped onboard the "How to not make your movies suck balls" bandwagon.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. After Endgame there is Spiderman Far from home, maybe Ao S and Cloak and Dagger and Jessica Jones if you are into it, and after this there will be a long stretch of no new MCU content at all (unless naturally something pops up at the Streaming service this year).
I have the feeling that once the MCU comes back, we will be starved for new content.
Westerns dominated cinema for what, nearly 50 years? I'd say we have another 3 solid decades ahead of us before audiences really do get tired.
BTW, the usual suspects are seen in the comments section of the trailer. I'm sure at this point no elaboration is needed.

I've managed to avoid superhero fatigue simply by not feeling compelled to watch every goddamn movie.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyYeah...I don't watch every movie either, I don't even watch every MCU movies necessarily in theatres.
Regarding the western: During the heyday of Western, there were way, way more than the ten to twenty Superhero movies we get each year released.
I don't think that the audience in general will get tired of Superhero movies anytime soon - provided that they keep delivering. In a way, the MCU is the longest running serial ever, and next to nobody is ready to let go of it just yet.
I have mixed feelings about them possibly adapting Kate because Clint being so watered down from his comics version means they probably won’t adapt Matt Fractions’s Hawkeye. And I wanted Lana Condor in the part.
What we see in the trailer matches up with what people were reporting was shown in the footage to Disney stockholders
. Which claimed

Well that would explain Tony and Nebula being in the space suit power walk scene - Also how she pulls a Batman in CM's credits scene.

HOLY CRAP GUYS.
NOW I'M FUCKING HYPED.
Edit: What a pagetopper, huh.
