Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Look, when all of those devastated alien civilizations recover from their economic/political crisis and wake up to double the amount of joe available to them, you're going to see that Thanos did nothing wrong.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Of course Thanos was wrong - when you kill half of all people, you only solve half of all problems.
Thanos’s wording wasn’t clear enough and the Infinity Gauntlet thought he meant half of all people. So it removed the upper half. Turns out just lower halves can’t really do much.

Actually, this Groot talk reminds me of something.
No offense to Sean Gunn, but with James Gunn out, I'm hoping that Vin Diesel will actually get to do all the body capture for adult Groot now. (Wikipedia tells me Terry Notary did the capture for adolescent Groot in Infinity War). Just being the voice wouldn't really be fulfilling to me, given that it's varying takes on one line in ensemble film series, without the benefit of playing off off the other actors.
Maybe it's different for him.
Jesus I never get tired of rewatching this scene from Daredevil's third season:
I still wonder at what point in this fight Fisk simply gave up. At one point he was doing pretty decent, but then he just stares at his wife and it's like "Game over."
Did he always intend to let Matt finish him off? Or was that just repeated head trauma?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I'm sure others already noticed this, but I just now caught on to this:
The musical notes for the Avengers theme tune fit the syllabals for the phrase "Avengers Assemble".
Can't believe it took me seven years to realize that.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!I actually meant: What if Shield captured Bucky BEFORE they found Cap.
Honestly, for all I care they should buy the rights of "This, you protect" and turn it into a whole season. I would SO watch this.
Since we recently discussed scores, I stumbled over this great analysis of the score of The First Avenger:

Scott Derrickson tweeted (but then deleted)
something about Doctor Strange and a certain someone everyone has been clamoring to see in the MCU...

Took me a while to realize you were referring to Namor's Battle Cry.

Full disclosure: I am going to be SO disappointed if Endgame doesn't give that speech the ironic echo treatment. I may be sounding like a broken record at this point, but virtually all of Thanos' lines in Infinity War are just begging to be thrown back at him in retaliation.
Though who should say it? Tony? Steve? Thor? All of them?
