Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

I would have loved to watch it today, but first a web seminar was thrown at me and while I was hoping/considering managing to find the time anyway, the car of my brother in law broke down, and I had to interrupt my work to help him, so, yeah, guess Monday is it....

Yeah, the Anti-Captain Marvel crowd made a huge fuss about the changed lines, claiming that it was because Marvel "realized that they were too feminist"...because, you know, Marvel never had lines specifically for trailers before.

[up] Alright we’ll share Godhood.

[up][up] I like an egg sandwich.

Just yesterday I had a sandwich comprised of Cuban bread, mayonnaise covering every inch of the sides, 2 slices of ham & cheese, & a sausage right in the middle.

Last minute random thing, but something I’ve always wanted to see from an MCU movie set decades in the past.

We should see, like, kid Monica watching Saturday morning cartoons at some point. And on the screen, we see a blip of a Captain America tv show. With an even cheesier “Star Spangled Man” as the theme song.

There’s no way in hell Cap didnt have at least one tv show and several movies made about him in the time people thought he was dead.

[up] They made movies featuring him while he was still alive!

Wasn’t a Cap radio serial a thing in Agent Carter?

I just want to know: does the film have important plot elements for Endgame (outside of the character herself, obviously)?

Even better, Luke Skywalker shows up and drops the title of Star Wars Ep 9.

[up]I’m still annoyed New Warriors was never picked up. I mean, Cloak and Dagger, now that I’m watching it is Ok, but New Warriors sounded really fun.

I don't know about that. It feel like classic Netflix super hero show, which means 90% of talking and introspection and 10% of not exactly good action ( even though it's not Netflix irc).

It got really good atmosphere, but it was too slow imho. I would watch 2nd season.

I only ever eat cheese dogs. Sometimes not even cooked. tongue

And its not like eat a lot of them.

Like I get 10-pack on occasion & then usually have one per day.

Was just thinking, who's the newest character to have their own MCU film (as the title character)? So far, the newest I've come up with is Ant-Man (debuted in 1979, at least the Scott Lang version).
