Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, Thomas and Martha Wayne are famous for dying (quite a bit), but that also means that they weren't really characters at all. So a story like Flashpont can mess around with time and produce two new versions of the characters that actually are interesting (Thomas as Batman and Martha as the Joker).
Same thing pretty much happened with the Batman Telltale Games, where Thomas Wayne was eventually revealed to be quite the slimeball and criminal.
yeah and Abe Ben sur or magneto wife, they exist for one thing and one thing alone: to fucking die for their characters.
I think mar vell is kinda hilarious because he a súper héroe who die of cancer, it feel so....normal and out of nowhere.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"It's bizarre how much flack Captain Marvel is getting for being "too political," when by all accounts so far the only thing remotely "political" about it is that she's a woman. And it's ridiculous that Brie's statements about wanting her press events to include everyone are making people fly off the handle. So much drama and anger over this. I swear, Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo post more politics on their social media accounts in a day than Brie does in a couple of weeks. Those guys are extremely left and very, very vocal about it, but I don't see anyone boycotting the overtly political Captain America films, or anything with the Hulk in it. The double standards are strong with the haters.

Actually, Nitro was responsible for Mar-vell's death in a roundabout way. He stole a canister of nerve gas, Cap fought him and in the melee the canister broke open, and Mar-Vell had to use his bare hands to reseal it, but the toxic chemicals infected him, only his nega-bands allowed him to keep living for so long. So Nitro's responsible for Cap's Death AND Civil War (which also makes this Hostess Twinkie ad a "Funny Aneurysm" Moment :

For a somewhat obscure Marvel villain, Nitro's had a surprisingly significant impact on the Marvel verse. Heck, in the Wolverine tie-in for Civil War, Nitro outright brags about it to the ones writing his checks. And yes, the fact that he bragged about what he did in Stamford says everything you need to know about what kind of person Nitro is.

Disgusted, but not surprised
He kind of technically has been or at least a villain with the same superpower in Agents of SHIELD.
Also, Captain Marvel Magic Eye stuff.
See if you can tell what the hell they are.

Captain Marvel seems to be doing well in IMAX presales.
Apparently the tracking for the North American box office is going as high as 150 million. If it goes any highernote it'll get into smash hit territory. And it only has to reach it's older tracking numbers of 120 million.
Makes me wonder if the backlash might be backfiring. Ie the people who are participating likely never would of gone to see it no matter what, and it's mostly just drawing more attention to the movie and for every person it sways to not see the movie it draws in 2 or 3 more who only end up seeing the movie because everyone was talking about it.

There's No Such Thing as Bad Publicity.
Or, as the rules of the internet puts it: "The more you hate something, the stronger it gets."
Nope the guy from the first season was Torch. They even gave him the name. Nitro expy turned up in season 4.
And yes, I am wondering too if we currently see the Streisand effect in the work. The more people scream that people shouldn't watch it, the more people pay attention to it.

Isn't the whole point of Flashpoint that Flash accidentally changes the universe and in the new universe, Thomas Wayne is Batman because Bruce died to the mugger instead of him? That was pretty badass.
