Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

x4 - Assuming said movie isn’t an overt political statement, which it probably isn’t. Speaking of, London premiere is apparently today.
I'm going to completely ignore all professional reviews for this film and do my best to ignore user reviews as well. I won't be able to ignore the general buzz, but I'm hoping to get as little of that as possible.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Well, that just makes me want to see it more now, considering how very few characters in fiction are genderfluid.
I actually hope that Loki is more genderfluid in his Disney+ show. I really hope they play around with him being a shapeshifter, rather than just a generic "magician."

Said character in question is named Val/entina, going by Val when feeling like a guy & Valentina nene feeling like a girl.
Also the show is sci-if & set in the future so they can pretty much change sexes whenever they feeling either.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Quick comments on the last couple pages:
It feels like every couple (dozen) pages we have the same discussion on the distinction between The Ultimates 2015 team and Ultimate Marvel.
I find when someone complains about having to hear diversity concerns that people actually live through, they're just showing their own weakness. That's your struggle? Sorry you can't easily tune out the real world.
You guys have been busy, eh.
I scrolled through all that and I got reminded of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. This is a show that I think my personal respect for what it's trying to do will outweigh my personal enjoyment of it. I fully acknowledge and respect the fact that it was not made to appeal to cishet white boys like me, nor should it really be trying to. Young girls and LGBTQIA+ folk need solid media delivering solid representation for them. So good on Noelle Stevenson and co. for their efforts.
Anyway! I don't have much of anything interesting to add to the Captain Marvel/Brie Larson debacle that hasn't been said before other than I'm quite excited for the movie and Brie has my respect. It's like Thor said, life is about growth, it's about change. And lord knows the MCU/superhero genre could use some change.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)While, obviously, the movie isn't out yet, does anyone else think that Carol will have to charge herself up to take on Thanos?
There's a clear difference in power levels from Carol fighting on the train and Super Saiyan Carol fighting in space.
Do you think she'll get a supercharge from absorbing the energy of Thor's lightning?
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?![]()

I stand by my initial confusion of the two teams, but the matter was clarified, and that letter doesn’t stand for France. So it’s all good.

x4 So basically the new She-Ra is a show you respect more than you actually like. Did I get that right?
