Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Deadpool & Luke Cage once together fought a pimpolord gangster called the White Man who is literally just an albino guy dressed in all white.
A funny comic, it was a parody of the 70’s I think that amusingly enough had a massive impact on Deadpool himself.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."If we're talking about all comic books, well...prior to Black Lightning, DC was trying to invent a black superhero and they came up with a character that was so offensive the writer refused to write him: the Black Bomber
, a racist bigot who magically transformed into a black man.
DC had wanted me to take over writing the book with the third issue. I convinced them to eat the two scripts and let me start over. To paraphrase my arguments...
"Do you REALLY want DC's first black super-hero to be a white bigot?"

I'm offended that his superhero costume was supposed to be a basketball uniform.
I mean really, he's so racist he even hates basketball just because there's a lot of black players?
Why don't we also add that his least favorite food is fried chicken.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Didn't Marvel use to have Fu Manchu as a character in their universe?

Yes, he was Shang-Chi's Archnemesis Dad.
I...really wish I hadn't been reminded of that.
Disgusted, but not surprisedSomewhere out there, a horny white dude is raging at the lack of a bathing suit and pretending he only wants it out of an interest in purism.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Literally the only thing I wanted out of Cpt. Marvel’s costume was to adapt the bodysuit color scheme well, since imo hers is one of the best color schemes in all of comic history.
And they did that, so...
She’s still the most traditional looking superhero of the bunch, too (besides Spidey), which is something I’d be hoping to see as well.

It is worth pointing out that the first Ms. Marvel suit with a bared midriff lasted for only 9 issues. And in her first issue
◊, Carol was already pushing for feminist causes such as right for a fair wage and freedom to write about any topic. So yeah, anyone advocating for a return to “the good ol’ apolitical days” clearly never actually read them.
First reactions to “Captain Marvel” are in.

Gwyneth Paltrow is retiring from playing Pepper
, though she leaves the door open enough for a day’s filming of a cameo or such.

Wow, his name was actually Whitewash Jones. I thought you were joking and saying that a character named Jones that I missed earlier got whitewashed.
