Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Cull while a big typical strong alien at least had a chain axe to offer some variety.
Which left Glaive & Proxima to suffer the most because they are both spear-users & thus fight around the same. Its even worse in Glaive's case since we didn't visibly see his immortality, only the implication when he comes back.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Not to put too fine a point on it, but if Steve, Nat and Sam just blew them to bits then and there while they were down in Scotland rather than quipping about how they somehow DIDN'T want to kill them, a LOT of problems could've been avoided.

M.O.D.O.K. stands for Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing. It was originally M.O.D.O.C. (Mobile Organism Designed Only for Computing) but he changed it after his transformation into a biological psychic supercomputer drove him nuts and he slaughtered his bosses at A.I.M. who did that to him. Basically he decided that the only thing his new psychic powers and brain processing power were good for was killing people.
Yeah, he's pretty creepy.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI can see the film having Captain Marvel introduced to us as a stone-cold ruthless human war machine working for the Kree and as the story progresses she has flashes (probably literal flashbacks) to her human past as her veneer of cold-blooded war-machine starts to crack over and she fights against her Kree "programming".
It'd form a pretty compelling arc and a relatively unique one for a MCU hero thus far.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."It is interesting that they have yet to reveal that the Kree are evil in the trailers. Between this and Mysterio being portrayed as a hero in the Far From Home trailer, I wonder if these two movies are going to be a pair.
Kind of like how Ragnarok and Black Panther both focused on colonization as a theme, maybe Captain Marvel and Far From Home will have story similarities. Both movies have one bleedingly obvious twist that they don't spoil in the trailer but everyone can see coming, but maybe there's a second, much bigger twist that the first twist is supposed to distract us from.
It seems Hulu is open to bringing back the canceled Netflix shows[1]
Even because that's not what they said. They just said a vague "we're open to all Marvel properties". Not even mention Netflix.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The trailers -especially the earlier ones - are kinda doing everything but outright stating it, though. The newer ones are more strictly focusing on the Skrulls, but the earlier ones barely hid the fact that she's going to be fighting the Kree eventually.
I mean, her bit about "I'm not fighting your war, I'm gonna end it" can only really be directed at the Kree and is probably a line (well, it sounds like a mashup of two different lines) from late in the movie.

I remember there was an episode of the 90's Iron Man cartoon that actually gave MODOK a tragic backstory and played his current plight for sympathy. It stood out as one of the few actually decent episodes in the absolutely awful first season in the show, especially since MODOK was mostly played for laughs before and afterwards.
From what I can gather, MODOK is very rarely treated as a sympathetic character, but I think it can be done.
