Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Still, I don't see Luke faring any worse than Cap, seeing how he is both much stronger and more resilient than him, only his fighting skill is worse.
And yeah, if Black Widow can hold her own, why can't Jessica or Danny?
Matt, I give you that, would have it a little worse. But I can still see him taking down at least a few.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% Scandinavian"They would be useful in the same way that Captain America and Black Widow would be useful. "
Which it means not that much, I mean Luke will hold his ground better than cap by his powers but is not much, specially since Cap have better traing.
And nat role in avenger were most relate to closed the portal than being in ground.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Oh, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones would go down hard if they fought the Chitauri.
While they can hurt the Chitauri if they get a punch in, neither of 'em is all that great at dodging. A minute after entering the fray, some Chitauri is gonna shoot them with one of those laser weapons.
Luke may be invulnerable to bullets, but those Chitauri weapons were causing huge explosions with each hit, big enough that when they hit the ground next to a car, they sent the cars flying through the air. A single hit might not be enough to kill Luke, but it'll definitely knock him flat on his ass and leave him pretty hurt. If the Chitauri see he's still moving, and pump a couple extra shots into him, he's toast.
And Jessica? She once got knocked unconscious by an ordinary guy hitting her with a two-by-four. The couple extra shots wouldn't even be necessary.
Matt and Danny might fare a little better, at least in avoiding being taken out so quick, but I can't see either of them taking down more than two or three Chitauri, if they're lucky.
During the Battle of New York, the weaker Avengers may have made a meaningful contribution, but Widow and Hawkeye relied primarily on ranged weapons (which none of the Defenders use much), and Cap had Luke/Jessica level super-strength mixed with Matt/Danny level combat skill (plus an indestructible shield), and that combination is far more effective than either ability is on its own.

It's been a while since I saw the first season of Luke Cage, and I haven't watched the second, but weren't the Judas Bullets reversed engineered from Chitauri tech? That pretty much renders Luke greatest asset (his invulnerability) moot.
They were made using fragments of Chitauri metal. Not taken from Chitauri weaponry or anything like that, just the metal their gear is made of.
We saw in the intro to Spider-Man: Homecoming, while Toomes's crew was cleaning up the wreckage from The Avengers, that the only way they knew to cut through a piece of Chitauri metal was by using another piece of Chitauri metal.
Cap's unstoppable, though. All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield.
Unless they didn't choose to oppose his shield, like Bucky. Then they don't have to yield, because they don't fit the formula.
Or if he doesn't have his shield, like when he fought Thanos. He had A shield, but it's not THE shield. Thanos chose to oppose the diamond-shaped knifey-shield, so he did not have to yield.
I guess it's really the shield that's unstoppable. Not Cap himself. Objection withdrawn.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Which is weird, since in the MCU both shields are made out of the same thing: Vibranium.
In the comics Cap's iconic shield is nigh unstoppable since it's made out of a Vibranium-iron alloy mixed with some unknown extra ingredient that makes it all but indestructible. The comics shield takes cosmic level and / or divine power to destroy — you basically need to be a Physical God to even dent it. Heck, in the comics adamantium is just a cheap knockoff of whatever makes up Cap's shield.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIt's literally why Bucky can catch the shield! I've said this. I came up with it!
One Strip! One Strip!

Please, if they took on a single ninja it would be impressive, but everyone knows a ninja's power is shared between them, the more of them there are the weaker each individual ninja is.
