Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Also, I have the feeling Marvel will do the same weird thing of spiderman and putting a part of a previous Iron man movie and saying "that girl you see for a couple of second, that is ruri!".
Granted personality wise she need something to be diferent, I dont think a cocky, near prvilage like tony would work with her so for people who know the chararter, what is her personality?.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"![]()
Well, to talk about Riri's personality would imply she had one: the character was never all that well-written at first, and I personally like the concept behind her and not much the execution.
That said, the more recent comics seem to have Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, but I don't read those, so I'm sure someone else can describe her better.

Yeah Riri in the comics had a lot of issues with her execution that the character seemed almost farcical.
The whole “I want to be opressed” bit in grade school was cringe-worthy.
Thankfully they will remove that nonsense if she gets adapted.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I've always thought it'd be neat if a hypothetical Riri movie had her big brother mentor figure being Rhodey, who's also been criminally underused in the MCU up to this point.
If you want to be topical (and you definitely do) you could have Riri and Rhodey occasionally debating their social status in the world and the choices they made (i.e Rhodey became a literal Iron Patriot working for the US army, a figurehead of the establishment by some definitions).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I think she is pretty obnoxious. And her being the supposedly smartest person in the Marvel Universe is pretty much an Informed Ability most of the time. It also wasn't really necessary, in my opinion. I don't know, other than MCU Shuri, it just never felt very natural to me.

I don't mind Moon Girl but I only recognize one version
◊ of Devil Dinosaur as legit.
Because she's a nine-year-old black girl and being a nine-year-old black girl who is also the Smartest Person in the World is a pretty damn high achievement? I mean, Reed and Doom both went to college first and studied for years to become geniuses, but Lunella is a genius nine-year-old. Having said that, she's also nine years old, so she makes plenty of mistakes, as well. She isn't perfect.
(And if you think Reed is the smartest person in the world, his daughter has already been shown to be smarter than him.)

Honestly I'm kind of tired of every super-genius in Marvel. They constantly tussle about who's the smartest but all they do is come up with some random gadgets (or AI, or on rare occasion a cure or serum or something) that are pretty inconsistent because superheroes are by necessity on the soft end of sci-fi. Like, in reality building a suit of power armour would be incredibly impressive but there's like twenty different iron people at this point. Moon Girl gets some points for being a child prodigy who still feels childish I guess.
Most iron people got their armor from Stark one way or the other.
His craftsmanship is so perfect pretty much anyone who wants to build their own armor uses his designs or rips him off in whatever manner.
Even Riri was only able to build her own suit by following his designs like everyone else........ and stealing supplies from M.I.T.
The armors started with Tony, he made it possible.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Surely Mysterio's been a hero at some point in the comics? Any character who's been around long enough eventually takes a turn playing for the opposite team.
As for the "Smartest Person In The World" thing, it just reeks of "my fave character is better and more special than yours!" shilling, regardless of who it's applied to. Same goes for Fastest/Strongest/Etc. In The World stuff, especially since, thanks to Serial Escalation, we're inevitably going to see them pitted against someone Smarter/Stronger/Faster than them anyway.
I really like that bit where Tony really did made the armors possible to build.
It lends special credence that he truly is a genius in this field & cements him as the inventor. Pretty much anyone who makes their own version of the invention must pay tribute or homage to him in some way like in real life.
Its unlike when Reed Richards claims he discovered or understood Pym Partciles better than Pym himself. Pym Particles are Pym's thing, let him keep it.

So one day we are gonna see a super-intelligent 3 year-old?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I know there was once an attempt to get a solo War Machine film
off the ground that focus on Rhodey going on a mission that makes him a wanted fugitive. I think that'd be pretty interesting to explore, especially given how much he tends to follow the book in previous films. Of course, it might be seen as derivative of how the Captain America films made him a fugitive, but I think you could go a different way with Rhodey.
Man, that's one of those comics I would have enjoyed the hell out of when I was that age, but now I'm an adult who volunteers with grade school kids and it's like "Who is letting a child fight dangerous criminals and hang out with a dinosaur? Where is the adult supervision?"

Riri's someone I've been clamoring for a while now, though I am somewhat concerned with her being the chosen successor of Iron Man with Peter as his unofficial protege.
So how about this instead: after Tony kicks the bucket, Pepper ends up creating some manner of program to get stuff like child prodigies into internships at Stark Industries, something among those lines, she ends up doing something really cool like reverse-engineering the Arc Reactor or some shit, and Pepper takes her under her wing so the kid can make good use of her talents.
This would have the dual benefit of sidestepping the question of why Tony would choose this random kid out of nowhere to by his successor, and would allow Pepper to have a more active role in the MCU.
I mean c'mon, everyone loves Pepper! Even the slash writers love Pepper! I want Pepper to show up in more roles, and as a more active participant. She's the CEO of Stark Industries, don't forget, would be nice if she had a role in the story that reflects that.
