Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Scott and Clint seem to be come from the same parenting mold, complete with that wrinkle on the side that they'll risk hurting their relationship for what is ostensibly their sake.
Clint and Scott both joined Cap because, as the situation was understood, it as the correct thing to do and when things went south, both struck deals to get back to their families.
The biggest difference is that Clint, being a supporting character, could honor his arrangement, while Scott being a main character had to weasle around it.
Which befits both characters, really. Clint is, pun intended, a pretty straight arrow. While Scott is a lot more shifty if just as well intentioned.
For extra not so different points, when things went south both went straight for Tony.
Clint, true to his nature, just layed the verbal smack down straight to Tony's face.
Scott tried, via what he knows about Stark from Pym, but since the two barely know each other, it deflated and fell flat on its face, comming out a joke at Scott's expense. Which is exactly what you'd expect from Scott.
Would personally keep it to P Ms to not de-rail too much, but you all do you (ftr I sorta know what he's on about).

Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)His recent decision to do the Bible-inspired Daniel Fast diet (fasting for 21 days) is also kind of messed up.
It raises concerns that other people like his fans might be tempted to try it as well.
Edit:
BTW, other celebrities attend Hillsong as well.
- Selena Gomez
- Kendall Jenner
- Kevin Durant
- Nick Jonas
- Vanessa Hudgens
- Justin Bieber
- Hailey Baldwin

Oh (phew) thank God, no one I like.
Though damn some former Disney stars there.
Wait I kinda like the Hotel Transylvania series & Selena voices the most popular character of that franchise.
Oh good lord the red flags.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Ya know I'll take this as a fucked up blessing in disguise.
I've been falling out from Star Lord for a while & no this isn't because of what happened with Thanos.
Just been growing disenchanted from his whole man-child-ness. I feel like he's holding back the Guardians from reaching their true potential & their kick-ass blue uniforms.
And Hell if he's out, they can finally bring in Richard Ryder. Gamora might finally get with a well-functioning human being.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, that is all...disturbing news. And here I thought Mr. Pratt seemed like an okay guy.
To change the subject to a more lighthearted fare, Kevin Smith has watched IW 53 times
, how many times have you watched your favorite Marvel film?

I mean when it comes to churches, most people who attend it either don't believe the "rumors" or they assume its just few bad apples or even "I don't believe in everything my church believes in which clearly doesn't mean I should switch a church"
Like I don't know, but I think attending a church requires bit of too much faith in the church itself. Like, you don't go to church regularly unless you are somewhat religious and Christianity does preach faith and forgiveness so it makes sense to me those two things can combine badly when it comes to churches with bad practices :P
Also before someone again thinks I'm trying to defend something, no, I'm trying to speculate about what the heck is up with hypocrisy of seemingly nice people supporting awful people.
For people who are serious about it, attending a church is a social experience every bit as much as it is a religious one. You can't just change churches without having to make all new friends and abandon your old ones, many of whom you might see on a daily basis and have to field some awkward questions from.
Is Pratt going there because he believes the teachings and is secretly a fundamentalist homophobe? If so, then he can go right to Hell. But there are other explanations. That said, if he ignores the public condemnation of his place of worship, it does speak volumes.
Back on topic, I've watched IW four times now, matching Thor: Ragnarok. I've seen most of the other MCU films once each, save the first Avengers and Winter Soldier, on which I've racked up a couple of views.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"^^^&^^ Yeah, thats what my third option was about. People refusing to change their habits because people apparently really hate doing so even when they should :P
(like even with "social circles" aspect, he would still be avoiding doing right thing because it'd be troublesome to get out of his social circle. Like sure it sucks to get out of group with friends and such, but as celebrity you unfortunately stop being a "normal" person and become automatically sort of role model)
Either way, as long as he doesn't publicly express those opinions or privately/publicly support conversion therapy either monetary or otherwise... Well actually too late, he is already doing both of those by just attending the church that advocates those practices since even if he doesn't realize it, doing so advocates "Hey I'm celebrity attending this church, so they and their beliefs are okay"
Basically, I'm accusing of him either being too morally lazy to change his church or him privately agreeing with the church even if he is decent enough to not do so publicly. Either way, it is really irresponsible as celebrity to attend church with known horrible practices

See, this is why I think becoming famous is about the worst thing that can happen to a person: pretty much the whole world is monitoring you, judging.
Not to say it isn't suspect, where Mr. Pratt goes to on Sunday evenings, but as a person who values my privacy, I can sympathize having every thing you do always end with such a reaction.
That being said, I'm not going to take the side of someone digging his own grave, don't want to get dirt in my shirt.
@Swanpride: It's hard to gauge for me because I'm hardly in the mood to fully rewatch a movie I've seen once already (ADHD does that to ya), so I often just rewatch my favorite scenes from time to time.
But even considering that, The Winter Soldier very much has the lead, with Civil War and Infinity War neck-to-neck behind it.
Yeah, I know, I'm about as traditional a MCU fan as one can get.
Man, the Dusting is the scene I re-watched the most out of the whole film, with the Hellicarrier scene in TWS and the dialogue between Zemo and T'Challa in Civil War.
What can I say? Awesome moments are awesome, but it's the times when my heart is shred to pieces that stick to me the most.
BTW, I think "The living are not done with you, yet" is the strongest contender to best One-Liner in the MCU. If I ever write a book, I'm totaling stealing this one!

Which makes it ironic that in sequel Hank & Hope needs to learn the lesson.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
