Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It really doesn't matter to me where they come on the totem poll, what matters to me is how cool their powers are ,I'd actually like to see some fairly obscure spiderman villains get re imagined as legit threats

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI mean, Mysterio is more or less a joke in the comics anyway. As was the Vulture (he's usually a geriatric whose nose is more distinctive than his costume).
They're not obscure, but they make for better threats against a newer, young Spiderman than the more competent experienced Peter Parker of the comics.
Slyde and the Kangaroo are about to have their time in the sun baby!
And the Spot! Nobody can stop the Spot!
Stiltman...has actually beaten Spidey a few times somehow....so yeah, him too.
One Strip! One Strip!...well sure if you're going for actually legitimate threats....
...wait Negative is a threat. I thought we were using the joke villains?
One Strip! One Strip!Uhhh, I just got in, actually, I thought we were just throwing names around
.
I mean, they already used the Shocker, how much lower can one go?

I think it's the second one.
In fact, what you're describing basically happened in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.
One Strip! One Strip! My biggest exposure to Hydro-Man was from the 90's cartoon, where he was MJ's Stalker with a Crush and actually was pretty creepy for the show's standards. A man who won't take no for an answer who has the ability to sneak any location whether it be a faucet or a crack in the wall? That's pretty terrifying and I feel that episode covered the material. It also helped it had some of the best animation in the whole show, so Hydro-Man's powers really shined.

I also like how MJ essentially kicked his ass, with even Spidey himself lamp shading how badly she outplayed him once he caught up.
One Strip! One Strip!Let's play "how is Peter Parker going to fuck up this relationship?"
My money's on "accidentally sells Michelle to Mephisto, resulting in her being literally ejected from reality and replaced a demonic clone of Mary Jane Watson Debra Whitman (that's a new one)"

Y'know, after The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I don't think the MCU is going to pull the dead girlfriend trick on Peter again. Especially how poorly handled it was the first time around.
Ah. Yeah, being a pile of ash can put a hamper on your dating life. You can understand my confusion though, considering how some of Peter's previous relationships turned out.

How about Hydro-Man?
