Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Doesn't change the fact that she is a genius businesswoman far more capable than he could ever be, which he acknowledges by, well, handing her the company.
Tony's not dumb, obviously, but despite what Hollywood tries to convince us of, being a genius scientist only makes you great at science; business requires a far more different skill set that Tony clearly doesn't have.
I agree, but unfortunately, business is boring, impossibly advanced robotics are not.
Its just not the kind of thing that is easy to show in a visual medium like Movies. A book might be possible, but I haven't heard anything about the literature side of the MCU, so I'm guessing the Black Widow books didn't pan out.

I think the Black Widow novel later got a sequel that made it explicitly clear it was not part of the MCU, since Captain Marvel shows up despite the obvious fact her film wasn't released yet.
There was a prequel novel focused on Thanos, but it was later revealed that it was not canon and should be ignored. I assume because it might contradict some stuff in Avengers: Endgame.
Tie-in novels are of dubious canonicity in most universes.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Felicia the girl with white hair you can see in the background at Peter's school sometimes?
This song needs more love.People always talk about the fishbowl, but you know what my favorite part about Mysterio's costume is? The gauntlets.
◊ Those things are fire.
They were instinctively the first thing I looked for the moment he appeared in the trailer. I was not disappointed.

It would be a letdown to have such a great villain in Homecoming only to present a generic asshole in Far from Home. This new Spider-Man series has set a high bar for itself; it should at least try to keep meeting it rather than duck under with an apologetic look on its face.
As far as the acting is concerned, Michael Keaton is far scarier saying menacing things to Tom Holland in his car than flying around in a bird suit. I don't really have as much stake in Jake Gyllenhaal, so I'm hoping to see what he can do.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"One thing interesting about the trailer is that Mysterio appears to have wind powers, completing the Four-Element Ensemble between himself and the elementals. Now, whether Mysterio's wind powers are real or not remains to be seen, but if he's positioning himself as a wind-based superhero tasked with taking down earth, water, and fire-based elemental titans, that's a fairly realistic and believable superhero character he's created.
Also, the Elementals are a real group of characters in the comics, made up of Hellfire
, Hydron
, Magnum
, and Zephyr
, who wasn't shown in the teaser. Assuming they're even real, they're probably not Sandman, Hydro-Man, and Molten Man, unless they're Composite Characters.
Mysterio and the Elementals are actually a group of DND players. They decided to take their role-playing to the next level and become superheros and supervillains.
You could look at it from the opposite direction: can we expect the casual movie audience to know the details of who Mysterio is, when they may only have been exposed to the prior Spider-Man films? I wouldn't be averse to a subversion where he ends up being a hero, but that strikes me as something that a lot of the audience won't appreciate.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It would be really freakin' awesome if his mentor in the third film was Daredevil. Like, not just an experienced superhero, but an experienced street-level hero who knows just how bad things can get and just perseveres. Heck, they could even base it on "The Devil and the Details,"
a Spider-Man/Daredevil/Black Cat story.

Which to be fair, may have been a part of Tony's plan.
He was the one who picked her, and it's clear he knew what he was doing when he did so.
