Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Eh... maybe. If in a Fantastic Four reboot film had them already with their powers, and the film was about them being restrained by a government agency (or SHIELD) for being too dangerous, only to have to let them fight when an actual villain enters the scene.... it could work.
Except that plot's been done, and pretty sure Incredibles fans would cry foul.
I'd be willing to forgive all that as long as they got Samuel L. Jackson in there as Nick Fury, and not some Expy.

Like creepy stories? Check out my book!A good way to putting it is what they choose to emphasize. The Incredibles are a "family of supers," emphasis on family. The Fantastic Four are a "family of super explorers," emphasis on explorers.
While there's certainly stories that focus on it, in general the Fantastic Four's thing isn't specifically being a dysfunctional family that comes together in trying times, but in encountering and dealing with strange horizons. Even if they were to emphasize them as a broken family, in that case Lost in Space (2018) is probably the best example of what they should look like.
Plus, genre wise, Incredibles 1 is basically a throwback spy movie with superheroes instead of James Bond and a family subplot.

That's nothing compared to the discussions on the old IMDB boards about what Helen and Bob's bedroom antics must be like...
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!Which explains how she survived sex with Mister Incredible, Hooke Law and all that
.
BTW, there's this romantic comedy where the situation is reversed and, when the couple tries to have sex, they put the bed through the door. Anyome knows what the name is?

I could see the X-Men working through simply introducing individual characters through other series and references.
For example, Mystique and Rogue show up in one of the Captain Marvel sequels. Shadowcat shows up in a Spider-Man movie should they want to adapt her similarly to the Ultimate line (or better yet, do Liz Allan as Firestar). I'm not a particularly big fan of T'Challa and Ororo together by any stretch of the imagination, but they could conceivably introduce her in a Black Panther film. Etc, etc, until it all coalesces into the world learning about the existence of mutants as a big overall plot point for one of the phases and - ultimately - an X-Men movie.
I would love a superhero-comedy musical, though the character on that list I'd most want pronto is Spider-Woman. They've already said they had rights to her for ages (specifically, they had rights to everything about Jessica Drew except the Spider-Woman name, which is imo superfluous anyway). I'm hoping she maybe shows up in the Black Widow movie.

Interpret that sentence however you wish.
