Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Clint being the one Avenger who IS able to mostly balance being an Avenger/SHIELD agent, with having a stable family life, is part of why I like him in these films. Trying to "get rid" of his family just strikes me as overly mean-spirited and cynical and we have enough heroes in the MCU with broken/fractured family lives as it is.

It ain't that deep. I find human disaster Clint Barton far more interesting and enjoyable than what we've seen in the films thus far, so it's the way I lean.
Like, for the life of me, I don't think I could come up with three personality traits to describe MCU Hawkeye if I were being quizzed. He's easily the least defined of the original 6 Avengers.

Cool. I find MCU Clint Barton to be pretty boring myself, which is why I'd prefer a more comic-accurate take.
Probably. It's sadly a bit too late to try and do something with Hawkeye. He probably ain't getting his own Spin-Off anytime soon.

Guys, guys, we already have a lovable loser version of Hawkeye — his name is Lance Hunter.
Man, Bobbi was awesome.
I really do wish they would bring her back (even with the actress being in The Orville) or use her in a movie or something. (Here's Lance Hunter's video.
)
Edit: Wait, Worldbreaker!? Just because the Green Scar is unlikely to ever be introduced doesn't mean you can just give out his nicknames to any bugger who comes asking, Marvel Studios!
I second that notion.
I love Wolverine, but we need some focus on other X-Men for now, X-23 has already been introduced and her actress is just the best, and frankly I want to enjoy this grief for a little while longer.

Jeremy Renner was cast back when they were still leaning pretty heavily on The Ultimates, but then they never really let him do any of the scary Bullseye-ish things that made Ultimate Hawkeye at least somewhat novel. Not to go all shipper about it either, but the implied history between Clint and Natasha was another hook for his character that they backed right off of. I wouldn't mind lovable goofball Hawkeye and I think Renner could pull it off — I've seen some of his work from when he was a thankless character actor, he's more versatile than Hawkeye and the Bourne movies would have you believe — but then that's kind of hard to buy knowing he's this responsible, built-my-own-house kind of army dad. So I don't really know. My interest is at least piqued, given that Black Widow is finally getting her own movie, that maybe they'll give Hawkeye/Ronin some moderately heavy lifting to do in Endgame.
