Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Presumably the face mask is S.H.I.E.L.D.-tech that she was using and not a thing she owns as a private citizen.
Black Widow is many things, but a genius inventor isn't among them. She uses guns. She doesn't make guns.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I wanna know why in AOU, her spy suit has those weird blue neon things. I mean if your goal is to sneak around, or use stealth, I'd think wearing a suit with freaking lights on it would not be beneficial.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book! Not doing much sneaking with the Avengers. I think it's just because they keep trying to push Black Widow's gimmick as electricity and Yellow Lightning, Blue Lightning is a thing.
Because her Avengers suit was designed by Tony Stark. There's a quick one-off line from Tony that explains everyone's costuming in the film:
"Uh, he's the boss. I just pay for everything and design everything and make everyone look cooler."
So, yeah. That's why her sneaking suit is covered in blue LEDs.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The face mask thing falls under Awesome, but Impractical: sure, you can change faces, but one hit from a loose wire and that mask will melt to your face. Ward and Agent 33 had to find the inventor of the mask in order to fix it and even then, he couldn't completely remove the mask.
So, I guess everybody's forgetting when Fury guest-starred in the season one finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
It's not Fury's sin, though. It is about his temptation. Remember, Fury told Cap about the Helicarriers. So...why do you think did he do that? I think he did it because he wanted a second opinion from the walking moral compass. And he was worried enough to delay the project.
Now, Fury made his mistakes in structuring Shield. But the very point is that unlike Pierce he never went over the line far enough to kill people for what they might be in the future.
Also according to Zola, HYDRA's infiltration of SHIELD was happening pretty much from the beginning, LONG before Fury was in charge. So the only thing that Fury was "guilty" of is not spotting it sooner (and he did notice that something was up eventually, it just took him awhile). But the whole thing was not his fault.
While Fury is not responsable, is his pragmatic and steping over the law that Pierce got is ideas, is easy to see what fury does and jump to HYDRA as sort of logical conclution.
And Drone strike are already controversial subject, he expanding that into what is pretty much Trakin doctrine with three death stars, to miniminze that sound....awfull.
