Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm really surprised that so many people dislike Age of Ultron around here. I gotta be honest: I like it more than Avengers 1.
Avengers 1 isn't bad by any means, but I think 6 years after its release, it has fallen victim to "Seinfeld" Is Unfunny a little.

It general the fight is pointless, it dosent really bring more and it was the reason the whole "Wanda is still guilty" fight that it break out here every now and them because Wanda mind whammy Hulk who cause a big break out in south africa(and could or could not have killed someone), is also the big situation the avenger have no excuse because one of their own lose control, was let loose in a big city and the guilty parto who did(wanda) Join the avengers....
In general, the fight bring more issue the more you think of it.
For it dosent, I find the movie quite a of a mess, move to fast, introduce some questionable choices(Nat and Bruce, Tony being near a villian) and I feel wheedon plagarize himself in the structure(the avenger facing a talkative villian who throw a lot of mooks in the last part for example).

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverWell, here is a list of what I like about Age of Ultron (in no particular order):
1. The "lift the hammer" scene. Wonderful character study.
2. More or less everything related to Clint. I just love the notion of him being able to have a healthy family life on top of being an Avenger.
3. Steve's dream sequence. So deep.
4. Tony creating Ultron. The step just makes so much sense for him.
5. Ultron not being the typical emotionless uberlogical Roboter but an emotional being.
6. The visual and thematical references to Zombie movies and Frankenstein.
7. Wanda's and Pietro's backstory
8. The whole farm scene with a special shout-out to the wood chopping scene
9. Claw. Just Claw. Gotta love me some Serkis.
10. The whole idea with the flying city is pretty great if you ask me.
11. Also the idea that an IA would be able to overtake the whole internet and to jump from robot to robot (thus said, I think it was a mistake to NOT have a scene in which Ultron speaks through all of his robots at once, just to put the point across.
12. Vision, especially his confrontation with Ultron. But everything else he does, too.
13. War machine gets some Avengers action!
14. The End credits. Which might sound odd, but this giant statue depicting the battle against ultron, I kind of love that thing.
15. While I don't like pretty much anything related to Brutasha, I like the notion of Natasha "betraying" Banner and forcible turning him into the Hulk. I just wish she had done it as an Avenger, not as a love interest.
16. Wanda fighting. I somehow can't get enough of seeing Wanda throwing around her red energy.
I like Ao U better than A1 for one simple reason: stuff actually happens in the latter, while the former, for me, just dicks around for 1.5 hours waiting for the big action setpiece at the end to happen, with nothing of substance before it happening.
For me, Avengers: Age of Ultron has a lot of good individual scenes and moments, but it never really conceals into a single whole. I wouldn't say it's overstuffed, as it doesn't have as much characters to handle like the Russo films. But I do feel like a lot of character arcs are underdeveloped and the Central Theme of the film gets muddled as a result. It's definitely the weakest of the three Avengers films to me, and I feel with a couple of rewrites the film could've been really great.
It just seemed like a lot of the character choices AOU made were missteps, and it felt like it even as the movie was still going on. It's not necessarily a bad movie on its own, but it feels out of sync with the larger MCU, and that harder to enjoy. That, and it couldn't help but across like Joss Whedon inserting his pet themes and unmistakable dialogue into characters where they no longer really fit, while ignoring the work others, including the writers, directors, and actors, had been doing in their individual movies.
There are some cool moments, definitely. I'd like to enjoy it more than I do, let's say.

Swan: I get but there some point I have to content.
" Tony creating Ultron. The step just makes so much sense for him." It make more sense than Hank that is sure, but managing to get away with that is....annoying.
" Ultron not being the typical emotionless uberlogical Roboter but an emotional being."
That would be good but I dont really like is personality that much, because he snark in a movie full of it, when he dont he just monologe pseudo deep stuff(he remind to Bv S lex luthor) while thinking he is threating, the fact is final fight is just thoring mooks and seriously expecting that to work is hilarious.
". Also the idea that an IA would be able to overtake the whole internet and to jump from robot to robot"
Meh, I mean is cool in south africa but it lost steam fast, it also let to the meme of "Ultron become evil by watching the internet for 5 minutes", if you ask me, he look too deep into tv tropes
"I somehow can't get enough of seeing Wanda throwing around her red energy."
No bad but I would love to see her doing something that spooky jazz hand.
At least for me I like some of the same stuff but it feel Ultron is a laser villian that loki(who kinda have the same plan) which is less threating, there is stuff like the whole "someone is stoping Ultron to get missile code" which I feel is unecesary and Ultron rambling with is motivation over and over.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"@Swanpride: None of the action scenes before the Battle of New York are any good, and none of the dialogue is particularly interesting or engaging except the one with Banner and Tony at the lab.
I do like the Galaga Guy joke, if only because I really see myself doing that
.
Obviously that's all my opinion and I can't speak for everyone until the device is completed.
Now im looking the sequel to Thor.
Loki: Dark world.
With: Loki!; Loki stupid that, Loki wonderfull Mon, the Star trek reject villians, Other asgardians that annoy loki, werid human who dosent give a damn because they are not related to Loki and.....and.....ok, maybe....thor.....ugh.
Jokes aside, Freya is such amazing chararter, kind to Loki, protecing Jane, have to deal with is ex warmonger husband.....
And Malekith look he would be better in start trek of battlestart galatica than in Thor.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I've said this a few times in different forums, but I enjoy Age of Ultron more if I pretend it's really "Iron Man 4".
I'm in the camp that considers "Civil War" the real Avengers 2.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book! Also love the hammer scene for the most part. Really could've done without the rape joke though. And before someone says it wasn't a rape joke, prima nocta is inherently non-consensual. There's no excuse for such a shitty line.
