Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Now I know how dumb its is to complain about choices for nominations (and their results) in an award shows, as well as the sheer immaturity in imposing an opinion as an objective fact toward what is essentially a subjective bias; but c’mon! Infinity War only gets one nomination for Best C Gi Performer (which seems like a throwawy vote given the competition).
I mean some of the categories BP is nominated for IW could easily fit in those position.
Best Ensamble Cast? Seriously have we all forgotten the meme of how the movie is the biggest crossover (only for something else to prove it wrong). The cast for that film was the All Star Cast of All Star Casts.
Best Production? Definitely. The looks amd feel of the movie is impressive and definitely captures the other worldly feel of the comics its inspired from. Its a good tie in with the Best CGI Performer category.
Best Adapted Screenplay? Its a really great film that adapts Thanos Quest, the first issue of Infinity Gauntlet (namely the ending), uses the Black Order from Infinity, and in some ways took a lot of inspirations from early Jim Starlin Thanos stories.

Plus, Infinity War has that whole thing about half the cast, you know, turning into dust. At least when the BP movie killed people, they were bad from the start.
(Actually, should we keep spoiler blocking that part? Feels like mostly everyone knows how it ends by now...)

Yeah, put me on the "BP > IW" train too. I think it just does more with its smaller amount of characters. That and its lows are nowhere near as bad to me than a...certain scene from IW that I'm still rather bitter about.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)Infinity War’s structure is efficient but underwritten. It has a lot of plotlines cautiously kept from becoming too bloated, but the consequence is basically all of them have no second act or no third act. Additionally, several of them are just repeats of each other, and the repetitiveness gets very distractingly noticeable by the end.

At no point in Black Panther did they feel it necessary to stuff anyone in a fridge.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Infinity War felt very much like the first half of a movie. Which, yeah, was intentional, but I feel like that'd detract from it having the best screenplay? Or something, I dunno.
I personally enjoyed Black Panther more, though I did enjoy Infinity War quite a bit.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.I think you are really underestimating how clever the structure of Infinity war is. Just the way it portrayed the fight against Thanos. We follow three different groups of characters, and each of them are fighting Thanos in a different way and in such different coded settings that it never gets boring and the audience knows at first glance with which group they are.

While you are right that it's structured in an interesting way, it still doesn't take away from the flaws in the film. Like everyone else is saying, it's basically half a film and often feels overstuffed, sometimes to the point of being detrimental to character development. It also requires you to have basic knowledge of who all these characters are, something that Black Panther doesn't.

The Disney logo is rubbish. The logo spells the damn company's name as "Gisnep" for some reason.
