Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Not bad. I'd probably rank Ragnarok a bit lower and Avengers higher, and I don't really get how the first Thor ended up so low. I could definitely watch Ragnarok again right now, though. I don't really feel that need with the plotline movies.
tom hiddleston has said that he wants amora in mcu
but thats all nothing confirmed

DRAGON DRAGONThe top 10 are really the only films I would probably actually commit to rewatching at some point or another
Here's mine
. Not too off, although I'd probably switch Black Panther with Thor Ragnarok and bump Spider-Man Homecoming down to around The Avengers' level.
"Timelines are all fun until time travel comes along and suddenly it makes no sense
"
Or if you are flash, decide to fuck it because you can.
And I just saw Antman and the waps and I was suprised in how coherent the whole thing end being and the movie really answer the complain about scott, about luis and some other stuff.
Also....ghots is....fine? she have a sympathic backstory but I wont said she is sympathic since she expend the empire movie being harsh to everyone, she remind me of Winter soldier in a way, before he was bucky.
Also, I will said this: never goes drawing walls with cap, it never ends well.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Honestly, I have given up on the test. It just doesn't work because what I would rather watch now in this moment is not necessarily the same I would like to watch tomorrow. Like, I currently would really like to rewatch Ant-man and the Wasp and Infinity war, but that's because I don't own either movie, while Phase 1 is currently on Netflix and I can watch it whenever I want.
I have switched to ranking franchises instead of singular movies, while I see the Avengers movies more as "events".
It's also difficult because those movies are so different. I mean, how to compare Infinity war with Ant-man? I can rank those movies within their own franchises (meaning Ironman is better than Ironman 2 which on a good day just edges out Ironman 3, The Winter Soldier is minimal better than Civil war which is better than The First Avenger, And unlike most people I prefer Thor of Ragnarök but Agree that the Dark World is the worst), I can rank origin movies against each other (my favourite is The Fist Avenger followed by Ironman and I think Doctor Strange has to weakest Origin movie but not the weakest first outing in the MCU, that would be The Incredible Hulk), I can rank Events (Infinity war at the top, Age of Ultron at the bottom, in the middle The Avengers and Civil War (if you count it as event instead of a captain America movie)) but really ranking all 20 movies, that's pretty much impossible.
I never really get why Ironman 2 is consider bettet than 3, sure the mandaring twist is stupid but I feel that movie really explore A LOT of tony stark and try to make him better, while Iron man 2 just let him to be a jerkass and used a deus ex machina to get it out of trouble.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
Honestly, the last 10 minutes of Ironman 3 are the main reason for it. Because it is the one time Marvel is erasing consequences by removing the arc reactor. Plus, they never really explain the extremis in Pepper, it is just wished aside. To me nothing is worse than a set-up which never gets a pay-off or a pay-off, which never gets a proper set-up.
My least fav is The Incredible Hulk. It is just so forgettable and disconnected, plus, that's the one movie where I really don't care about the characters.

What's your issue with The First Avenger? It has an amazing first act and one of the best endings in the MCU.

Sure the last 10 minutes is brush up, I wont deny that but I feel the movie did really to show Iron man is more than the suit and kinda expand is persoanlity in general, while foward we are stuck in "is tony stark try to blow off the world?".
And nothing can be said of erasing consequence with "Out yeah you discover a NEW ELEMENT right now that allow to get away with you being a jerk", that was just....awfull.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
It was, but at least Tony had to face his own death beforehand. That left psychological marks on it. Ironman 3 is all "okay, let's kill Pepper for five seconds (the only fake-death in the MCU I really hate) and then explain everything set up as fast as possible in an exposition dumb". Ironman 2 at least wraps up the storyline it offered properly.
Ecept...it dosent, it relies in contrivance in order to free tony: Vanko father was probably hurt by tony? no, vanko father was bad, tony is going to die and there is nothing he can do about it? he get resolve by what can be consider the most awfull piece of deus ex machina in the entire MC, even more than the helicarrier in AOU, a new element, discover by tony, following the hints let in a model is father left 50 years ago....that he just sort of happen to discover trying to apologize with pepper, is so thin it break suspention harder than anything.
And that is the other thing: I dont feel tony learn of grow in iron man 2, he just sort of act liek a dick and never explain anyone, then he get cured and got away with it. Pepper must be happy that tony almost die and she never found out.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I'm pretty happy with my results
, so I think it works well enough if you take it more as a question about "Which you do like between the two more?"
@ Swan I'm not a big fan of Captain America the character in general (to say the least). For me, he is a relic that should have long been buried.
But at least Winter Soldier, Civil War etc try to deconstruct him as a character and give him flaws, show just how out of time he and his morals are and try to make him adjust to that.
First Avenger is just straight up America Saves the Day patriotism, with a cast of bland heroes, over-the-top cliched villains and a setting that just doesn't feel right with me.

Yes. I am not saying that Ironman 2 is perfect. I am saying that it has more fun moments and annoys me less than Ironman 3, mainly because Ironman 3 feels as if the director has gotten bored with the story and therefore decided to wrap it up as fast as possible, while Ironman 2 feels more as if the director really tried hard, but lacked the time to do the necessary rewrites to make the story work. And while Tony acts like a dick in Ironman 2, it also gets deeper into his relationship with his father, which makes me feel for him.
See, that's what I thought about the character before I saw The First Avenger. But The First Avenger managed to humanize him and to make him relevant by drawing a clear line between Cap the person and Cap the propaganda tool. I also happen to think that the movie doubles as a critique on war propaganda and invites its audience to reconsider its view on WWII. But that's just me, maybe your experience was totally different.

sure, but if I were able to answer this question, I wouldn't need a generator to create a list.

Here’s mine.
Pretty accurate, although it depends on my mood whether I want a more comedy heavy MCU film.
