Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

If I recall, their agency (WME) is also the same one where an agent groped Terry Crews, so I suspect there's a nasty culture behind it. Although then again since Creative Artists was known to have had senior personnel send people to Weinstein, I have little reason to trust talent agencies and suspect all of them have a toxic view towards women and sexual violence survivors.
Granted, given the nature of the attacks were racial in motivation, I feel uneasy with trusting Wahlberg doing right even if he went to jail and supposedly apologized, so I can't argue with people who don't like him. Plus, the whole Kevin Spacey removal situation is pretty gross. With Jared Leto, I've heard whispers about him being a rapist on his band tours pop up in comments when he's involved with something, although I haven't heard or found any specific accusations beyond the "he's a sexual predator".

Power of Thor!Yeah, the Spacey story is gross...didn't know about it because I really don't pay attention to Wahlberg.
I also understand that the racial aspect is difficult. But if (if!!!!) this were a "he did this as a teen, but apologized for it and has done nothing along the line since then", I would follow the principle that people who have repented deserve a (mostly) clean slate. Until they do something along the line again.
If he did, he can burn.
Although there are people who shed racist beliefs, I personally suspect that while Wahlberg is now law-abiding, he probably still feels the same bigotry but keeps it closer to the vest.
It's kind of darkly funny that he's seen as sort of like a human avatar of Boston, because Boston itself has an infamous reputation for racism among its citizenry.
Back on topic though, in terms of my thought on Hardy in the MCU, my basically thought was to use for both humor and pathos the idea of him being a Darker and Edgier hero, coupled with the fact that Peter is our POV character and the film is considerably more family friendly. So Eddie would talk about eating people but would never actually do it in the movie, and sort of be a Bad Butt character.
Essentially, Eddie would be kind of like how Batman is in stories where Batman isn't the main/POV character. But a Batman who dialed up the Horrifying Hero image and kept talking about eating people.

Ya know now that I think about it, I wouldn’t mind adapting Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye series only with Kate in place of Clint as long as they don’t hold back on how much of a loser Kate would be in place of Clint.
Cause a very flawed female loser protagonist would be fun especially with how they mess up so much yet still have at least several badass moments in spite of their own flaws.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Sounds good...I mean, they basically adapted the whole Hawkeye/Mockingbird dynamic on Ao S by replacing Clint with Hunter. They can easily use great story ideas for different characters.
They could even make Kate Bishop deaf.
Rumor going around is that Marvel is looking at Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee) to direct Guardians vol. 3.
Wait...WHAT???? Last year we were praying that there would even be a sixth season. They even wrote the fifth season in a way that it would have been a great series finale. Just getting a sixth (shorter) one in the summer (and that is summer of 2019, the season isn't even CLOSE to getting aired) was considered a miracle. And now, after all those years of budget cuts and prayers they do an early renewal?
Is this related to the study which showed that Ao S is actually one of the most successful shows currently on air if you use different metrics?
I'm just...ecstatic, but also really, really surprised.

I don't know...if the only black mark in his record is something he did as a teenager and he repented for, this kind of belongs on the "you need to give people a second chance" pile.
He is a hammy actor, though.
Leto...I have only heard about his behaviour on the Suicide Squad set and that was enough for me. Sending your female co-stars used condoms is sexual harassment in my book, no matter which role he plays or how "method" he is.
