Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It really is a shame he didn't get to see Avengers 4, but he did get to see so many of his creations on the big screen, including Iron Man, a character he created to see if hippies would buy a "corporate" superhero. I do think they are going to give tributes to him for both Captain Marvel and Avengers 4, but after that, I have no idea if they have any other cameos or if they are just going to stop doing those cameos altogether. I mean, nobody could really compete with Stan Lee in terms of simply being a legend. (Which is also why a lot of his contemporaries disliked him — he was his own best hype man and they thought he got more credit than was due.)
I'm sure Disney has enough money to CGI him into every subsequent MCU film, but I hope they don't.
Next movie(s) will probably be dedicated to his memory.
He is at long last reunited with his wife.
Fare thee well, Stylin' Stan.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Hasn’t Marvel already filmed footage of him doing random things to put in future films?
I feel like he wasn’t on set for GotG 2 either, but I could be wrong.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I knew this day would come sooner or later. I was really hoping Stan would have been able to hold on long enough to see the Fantastic Four, the comic that was once going to be his last hurrah and which ended up shaping the Marvel Universe (and thus defined both his own later career and the entire face of modern pop culture), get proper cinematic treatment in the MCU (especially since Kirby didn't even live long enough to see the one screening of Corman's film). But now he'll never get that chance.
Be that as it may, only one word can truly cap off the life of Stan Lee: Excelsior!

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryI knew this was coming sooner than later. I'm sure his cameo in Avengers 4 was already filmed beforehand, so it will be a nice tribute at least. I have no doubt Avengers 4 will end with some sort of "in tribute to the greatest superhero of all time" message in its credits.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Never got to meet him, and I'll take that regret to my grave ;_;
Be that as it may, thanks for all the good memories, Stan. Your silly characters helped make me who I am today, and I'll never be able to thank you enough.
Edit: His cameo on GOTG Vol 2 will hurt so much from now on...

Well, at least he got to see his characters become the most popular thing in town as well as most of his properties coming home again. It is too bad that he never got to see a good F4 movie, but at least he got to see this. And I guess his cameo for Avengers 4 was already filmed, so that will be the perfect farewell to him.
You know, they can replace the end-credit scene with something honouring him.
RIP.
He will be missed.

This song needs more love.

Yeah, it was noticeable in his cameos in Ragnarok and Homecoming that he wasn’t on set with all the other actors. :/
