Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

There are plenty of ways to keep Loki around without bringing him back to life.
Personally, I think he'll hang around as an illusion that haunts Thor before transitioning into Kid Loki.

This song needs more love.I know a guy who suspects that Avenger's 4 won't utilize time travel, but be an adaptation of the most recent version of Secret Wars.
What we'll be looking is other universes based on specific moments from the MCU not unlike the Battleworld of the 2015 secret wars.
So Secret Wars will probably be the title of the fourth movie. I admit, it could work. Plus with the Fox deal still playing out and the Xmen and Fantastic Four needing to be integrated somehow, Cosmic Retcon and alt universes seem like the most logical way to pull it off.
Any thoughts on this.
One Strip! One Strip!
How would it involve Thanos?

Thanos would be ruling one of the worlds on Battleworld.
Note that it's been mentioned by Crossbone's actor that he's going to return in some capacity. If we have worlds based on different moments from across the MCU (like the battle of New York, the Battle of Sokovia, the fall of Shield) there's be room for him to return...along with a lot of other dead villains.
It could be a cameo I admit, but it's not impossible.
Edit: To be more precise, the place he's in at the end of Infinity War is his own section of Battle World.
Edit: He also brings up Vision and Ultron's final conversation. Namely how Ultron states they're all doomed. Now both of them came from the Mind Stone, and Vision did seem to understand on some level what Thanos was (enough to be afraid of him, or at least that the stone was warning him about Thanos).
Now, this one might be reading too much into things, but I'm gonna keep an open mind on it.

One Strip! One Strip! The fun part of multiverse shenanigans is seeing a bunch of different takes on the same character.
I don't feel like that meshes well with either the "X number of movies" contracts or the actors aging out of their roles.
Like. You can write a cool multiverse story where Iron Man takes over the world and that's neat, but it doesn't change the fact that RDJ isn't available to star in your film.
Multiverse stories are the kind of plot that just work better in serial formats like television shows, cartoons, and comics. Mediums where trying to track down all the actors you want to showcase parallel versions of and getting them to the set isn't as much of a factor.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I wouldn't do it. I think it really helps to leave the animated stuff as their own thing.
But hey, now that Disney owns really all the Fox rights, they could create an animated multiverse which would include most of their TV shows...minus the Sony ones, naturally.
On the movie side, well, Ao S already kind of introduced the concept. I think they are testing the waters there. So I think it could work. But that is something which needs to get built up, just cramming it into the finale of phase 3 might be a little bit much.
I'd be on-board for a Howard The Duck animated movie or even a Who Framed Roger Rabbit-esque mix of animation and live-action.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.

Kid Loki that also leads up to Young Avengers would be a great idea.
