Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Inb 4 it's a season of Wipeout to see who becomes the new Captain America
Shut up and take my money. This is literally exactly what I wanted Captain America 4 to be.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Wow, that's an awful lot of money spent to most likely achieve absolutely nothing
The hardest thing in this world is to live in it.I do feel like this show is another Death Flag for Cap. It's basically a tacit admission that Sam and Bucky's actors won't be needed for movies anymore.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I also share the perception that going to tv is like going to die, which concerns me because I had thought/hoped both Sam and Bucky would take on the Cap identity in the films or otherwise still have an active presence.
But I have to agree with Tobias that the tv show likely means they are being written out of future MCU films.
Yes, that's the point. So you can see how for people who were hoping to see the two of them graduate to becoming stars of their own Captain America movies, this comes as something of a disappointment. If they follow Coulson's example, which I'm not absolutely saying they will, but to whatever extent they do, there is a certain sense of being put out to pasture.

...Seriously, though, what's the big deal? Unless you hate watching stuff on TV and only watch stuff on theaters, who gives a shit? If being "put out to pasture" means getting 10 hours of a television show with more characterization and better plots and better villains, shit, put all the characters "out to pasture."
