Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The toyline for Avengers 4 has started leaking out and it has Pepper in the Rescue armor
◊. Grain of salt since toylines do fabricate plot points all the time, but Paltrow did photograph herself in a mocap suit
◊ filming A4 scenes in a mocap suit, so make of it what you will.
While I still want my Bucky and Falcon Road Trip movie (or series), I don't see why Cap has to die first. In fact, I kind of think that it would be waaaaay funnier if they were still kind of competing for who is Cap's bestie. That would be way less funny if Cap were already dead.

You know, you might want to put news like this in the Avengers 4 spoiler discussion. Even without the spoiler tags, I can make some educated guesses regarding what your post is about.

I've been really against either Sam or Bucky taking up the "mantle" of Captain America because it inherently implies that their pre-existing superhero identities are less important (more so Sam with Falcon, I'd be more fine with Bucky casting aside Winter Soldier/White Wolf). I do, however, really like the idea of both of them taking aspects from Cap and incorporating them into what they already have. They can be a duo: Falcon America and Soldier America!

You make up an excuse and beat it!
CONTEXT: Jimmy Kimmel tried to grill Tom Holland about whether Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place before Infinity War or after Avengers 4. It goes about as well as you may expect...
At first I was like, "It is so weird to see Tom Holland suited up as Spider-Man after what happened in Infinity War."
And then I was like, "Bro. Bro. You didn't think Marvel Studios vaporized the actors, did you?"
And then I was all, "...it was a really good scene, okay?"
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I would totally be down for it to eventually be revealed that the Peter in Far From Home is actually Ben and the movie is going on while OG Peter is still trying to get back to Earth, which would end up being the real meaning behind the title.

This song needs more love.Didn’t Feige already make public that Far From Home takes place immediately after A4?
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyThat would actually be pretty cool. Introduce Miles Warren as Peter's teacher and have the big reveal at the end that there are two Peters because Warren cloned him back to life.
Then our Peter can stay on the Avengers and keep turning in appearances in MCU Spider-Man movies while Ben Reilly goes off and does questionably-canon Sony movies for the Spider-Man universe they're trying to build.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Spoiler alert: Miles Warren has a jar of dirt. And guess what's inside it! It's Peter!
Well, Tony is off planet. I'll bet he took his stash of rum with him.
Damn, I think I'd actually love a Marvel One Shot that was just Tony and Nebula having drunken adventures around the cosmos. It'd be like that one episode of Justice League where Green Lantern and Hawkgirl go smash up an alien bar.
Sorry to get off-topic, but it looks as though Marvel is hoping to get a female director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3:
https://www.comicbookmovie.com/guardians_of_the_galaxy/vol_3/marvel-studios-rumored-to-be-looking-at-female-directors-for-guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-a164222
Makes me wonder if whoever said they weren't starting production until 2021 got it wrong. Otherwise, why would they give it a working title and be looking for a director so soon?
The hardest thing in this world is to live in it.
As I explained above, there is no way that they will be able to find a director in time to start shooting as planned. So they needed to find a time in which all their stars are available, which isn't that easy if you have three very popular actors in your cast.
And the earlier they settle on a director the better.
You know what, I'm down with a woman taking the helm for Got G 3. Would be cool to have a different sort of perspective.
On my wave, passing oooooooon

@Tobias-
I'd like that too.
Something I've been thinking about, particularly regarding that fan theory of Steve hooking up with Peggy in the past, is that while I don't really like the idea that Steve is basically a Death Seeker Blood Knight who cannot function in the present, I don't think it's just something unique to AOU, and I'm also mindful that Chris Evans has been interested in moving on.
So with those things in mind, I think that if Evans had been interested in staying on, you could have Steve quite easily settle into modern life, but since he isn't, I think a heroic death is the best result. And I don't really like the time travel "nasty in the pasty" idea or even that used as a vision of the afterlife because as much as Steve and Peggy are kind of soulmates, I don't really like the message that the only way Steve could be/could have been happy was in the past.
Of course, it's possible (and I'd like this), but unlikely, that Steve does live and ends up as director of SHIELD or something like that.
Incidentally, one thing I was thinking that would be a good way of avoiding potential Unfortunate Implications and be in line with how Bucky is T'chalah's buddy is have Sam use the OG shield (well, Tony's rebuilt version of it) and Bucky use a version of Steve's Wakandan shield. Sam would wear the suit he wears in the comics as Captain America and I imagine Bucky wearing something in between his comics' Captain America costume and the US Agent costume.
