Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

You know, I know that Namor crushing on Sue Storm is a relic of a different time when the writing for Sue was much more sexist, but I kind of want them to include some version of that in the MCU Fantastic 4. As long as Sue is still "Modern Badass Sue Storm", I don't see a problem with her being in a committed relationship with Reed while also commenting that the buff fish guy who flies around wearing nothing but a speedo and professing his love for her is kind of hot. Namor's kind of a weirdo anti-hero anyway.
According to people who were watching the set of Far From Home: We got the fishbowl. Rejoice.
This song needs more love.If Ultron ever comes back, I want him to do this.
◊ Just because.
Did that actually happen? That's not a fan comic or anything? Cause that's amazing. I just laughed for about twenty seconds straight.
It's the way the beard makes Ultron's... mouth opening... look like a demented lol face.
It's from Marvel Holiday Special 2005
in a story called "Yes, Virginia, There's is a Santron." Santron is also defeated by an EMP cookie.

Really the only potential, emphasis on "potential" issue that I can see is that Jake Gyllenhaal is an actor who's very expressive and gets a lot of mileage out of his facial expressions/body language. So hiding his face behind an upside down fishbowl seems, iffy to me, unless they have a REALLY cool take on the character.
This is in response to the previous's pages discussion of Doctor Doom
I suppose if you were going to introduce Doctor Doom already ruling over Latveria you could have a back story where he's a doctor sent there as part of humanitarian efforts but ended up as it's ruler because he's believes he's the most qualified to rule and takes advantage of the instability in the country .As to why they weren't involved in Civil War, you could justify their absence by saying that his efforts to seize control were on going and he only ended up in full control when the civil war between the heros was concluded
Also, point out that if Cap and Tony hadn't been at each other's throats they might have prevented Doom's rise to power
I'm not sure about the 'science and magic' aspect of Doom's powers though, though you could make the 'magic' all smoke and mirrors by Doom as part of his efforts to cow the population and the rest of the world into fearing him
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverIt might work best if he doesn't do flashy "wave hands and make flashy lights appear" sorcery, but "draw this symbol and say this chant and a curse will happen" sorcery. That way it's less like an additional power he has and more an extension of his super-genius thing, having studied occult rituals just as much as he's studied the sciences.
You mean aside from the fact that he tortured, maimed and killed?
As for Doom, there are far more than just 2 versions of him. He is one of the biggest cases of Depending on the Writer ever.

One Strip! One Strip!I know this technically isn't part of the MCU, but goddamn does Into the Spider-Verse look awesome
.
Well, there is a reason why I have pegged it for the big winner of the Superheroes movies yet to be release. I hope it succeeds...than Sony can focus on animation and leave the live action releases to Marvel Studios. (Would solve two problems at once, too, because it would keep their animation studio busy with something which isn't a soulless cash grab).
Huh. If Far from home is going to take place after Infinity War, I find it funny that Mysterio will be the next Spiderman villain, as he would be the second villain being an expy (power wise, kinda) of a hero he met in a previous movie (Mysterio to Doctor Strange, Vulture to Falcon).
It would be interesting if they continue this trend for the third movie.

Namor has him beat.
