Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Could be a good way introduce Ultron in a new form,an AI based that's supposed be based on the late Tony Stark develops a mind of it's own because it turns out Ultron had uploaded his mind years ago and was undetected for years effectively hijacking Tony Stark's mind
yes I'm aware thats what happened to Jarvis shush
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverYes, he was.
Fun fact regarding using that to bring back Ultron: there was a comic where Ultron took over Tony's suit and somehow morphed both Tony and the suit into a new body for himself, in the form of a naked Janet van Dyne.
Comics are weird.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I knew someone who had the theory that in the final moments when Vision and Ultron were facing off and Vision supposedly blew him up that maybe Ultron managed to download himself in Vision itself.
We don't see the entirety of the final moment: it pulls away and all we get is that flash of light from Vision using the Mind Stone. Plus, it'd be the last place anyone would ever think to look for him.
There's also the possibility that Ultron put himself inside Vision when the latter was initially burning him out of the internet.
One Strip! One Strip!I have sometimes considered a fanfic where Ultron wakes up in Vision's post-Thanos-ripped-out-the-Mind-Stone body. He was intending to "save" the Earth from Thanos, after all. And now after the Snap, the Avengers have a narrower selection of who to cooperate with.

There's still at least one intact Ultron head around (Peter finds it in Homecoming).
And while it's clearly inoperable, mechanical and electronic villains spontaneously reactivating from spare parts is a beloved comic book staple.
I wouldn't mind Ultron coming back as kind of a Token Evil Teammate, occupying Vision's body.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing. So, here's a random speculatory question. We talk a lot about how we think the next movie is going to go, but I've been wondering about how it's going to end recently.
Like, do you guys think the stingers and all are going to emphasize "job well done, everyone is happy and good now?" Or do you think the final note of first big arc of the MCU is going to be a jarring hint for the next big one? (like, I dunno, have the shenanigans with the stones crack a hole in reality, through which comes Shuma Gorath).
I could see them doing either, especially if the former involves showing us new heroes or lay hints for positive things that fans have been wondering about (like Stature / Stinger, or SWORD, or the Young Avengers. Or even on a somber note: if Steve does die and get that dance with Peggy, it being shown in a stinger would be nice feel good cap.

I actually really hope that all the Avengers 4 stingers are some flavor of happy to bittersweet. Both the characters and we, the audience, have deserved a time to be happy. I don't want Avengers 4 to have a "and then there's an EVEN BIGGER villain who sets his sights on Earth!", save that for a different movie. After all they and we have been through, we deserve a series of stingers that are just "and then everyone lived happily ever after".
Avengers 4 should feel like a proper wrap up of all the stories we followed so far.
And then they can built up the secret invasion story line. Hopefully Captain Marvel will be a success because I have the feeling that the future of the MCU hinges on it. If nobody watches her taking out scrulls, they will have a hard time to elaborate on them.
I figure they'll do the opposite of what they usually do and have the first post-credits scene be nice (like the hypothetical steve-peggy dance idea, which I quite like) and the second post-credits be a set-up for the next conflict.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm predicting multiple stingers peppered throughout the credits that check in on various characters and give us little bits of their happy endings. And then the last one has the ominous Sequel Hook.
Like, maybe Captain America sacrifices himself to go out in a blaze of glory against Thanos at some point in the film. And then the last stinger is Captain America still alive but patched up, waking up in alien custody - but without specifying that the aliens are Skrulls.
The trick with Secret Invasion is that if they were going to do that arc, they probably shouldn't telegraph it ahead of time. The Skrull reveal worked because of the sudden paranoia it created about the preceding stories.
If they were to do a film adaptation, they should save that reveal for near the end of the phase. Put it somewhere that nobody will expect it after several films have already been released. Phase 4's trucking along, everyone has their own movies, and then maybe a shocking Skrull reveal shows up in Ant-Man 3 or some shit. Hank Pym dies and reverts back to a natural Skrull state, and everyone's like, "Holy shit. What is this? What do we even do with this? Where's Hank?"
I feel like the reveal would be more effective if the audience has to go back and comb through the movies they already watched looking for secret Skrull hints than if they're warned to keep an eye out for them ahead of time.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I don't think Secret Invasion is the kind of thing you could space out over multiple movies anyway. Seems like more of a Civil War-sized story. Secret Wars, though, maybe. By way of Exiles, hint hint, Marvel.
I'm just going to guess the next big multi-phase villain is Galactus until proven otherwise. Quite a gamble, I know.
I agree. Which is why I think the MCU needs a few breather movies (and frankly, they have enough franchises started that they can afford that...something like Far from home, a second Black Panther, finally a Black Widow movie or even another Doctor Strange doesn't necessarily need an extra draw), and then drop the bomb. Maybe not in the Ant-man franchise though…

In Avengers 4:
Tony: "Well I think it's time for me to retire. I don't think we'll be seeing any more intergalactic threats for a while."
In Spider-Man Far From Home:
News: "Tony Stark was found dead today in his home. Sources say he was hit with a sniper rifle after he was done discarding his Proto Layered Optimal Titan Armor."
This song needs more love.
