Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'd them, or at least M&M, to oversee the longterm story of the franchise alongside as well, but I have this feeling they want to just take advantage of the name they built at Marvel and do other stuff.
James Gunn was the only guy working in the MCU to really seem to want to make it a full time, long term commitment.
Which isn't surprising, really, GOTG and Vol 2 were very personal projects for him, by all accounts.

If they use X-Men, they could simply use another villain who isn't Magneto. Or better yet, have Magneto as the head of the X-Men post Heel–Face Turn.
Mr. Sinister has been trying to get into films for like a decade, so they could use him.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Like when he was the headmaster of the new mutants but minus the part where they kept going behind his back and getting themselves killed and blaming him for it
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBrie Larson Responded Perfectly to Jerks Who Said Captain Marvel Should Smile More
According to Uproxx, Larson wrote, “Breaking news: You can be you. That means you can smile or not. You can be strong in the ways you want to be. You can own who you are. If anyone tells you different don’t trust them.”
That they don't get to tell women what emotions to feel, or how to express them. That a female doesn't have to be "pretty" rather than stoic, determined, or other things that they uniquely associate with males. Women aren't allowed to encroach, you see, or their testosterone levels spontaneously drop.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"This controversy is 100% Kilgrave-approved.
Some folks should think about that.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Sauron's kind of a joke villain, he'd be best suited as a Cold Open villain fight before the actual plot happens.
For a Starter Villain, how 'bout Mastermind? If you're introducing a whole ensemble cast of X-Men, you'll probably want to start off with a pretty simple villain who won't eat up too much of their development time. Mastermind's powers, origins, and motivations are bare bones enough you won't need to spend too much time on him, while still allowing for some neat effects and interesting threats here and there.

Not yet, anyway. The stinger to X-Men: Apocalypse name-dropped him, so it's probable that we'll be seeing him soon.

You guys really need to try thinking of roles for him besides the Big Bad. One of the main issues of the Fox films was his Hijacked by Ganon tendencies, so obviously the MCU should try putting him to the side instead.
Eh. Expand the definition of mutants to included the Gifted/Enhanced and Inhumans, why not. It was always an arbitrary distinction in the comics anyway. And then establish secret refuges and even more secret government camps in various countries around the world. The Hellfire Club. 1407 Graymalkin Lane. The Savage Land. Hell, Asteroid M — there was a whole secret history between The First Avenger and Iron Man, why not a man who could bent metal with his mind who used that to fold together a giant space station and fly it out behind the moon or something. I don't want to live on this planet anymore, so I'm gonna take my ball and Start My Own. Meanwhile the US government reached out to Professor X with a compromise — we'll leave you alone if you use your mind control powers to help us cover up all the things we're covering up.
I'm still more expecting there to be some time travel/Elseworlds/Secret Wars shenanigans after/during Avengers 4, but I'm more and more up for the idea that this is the dawn of the mutant era as Captain Marvel and Ant-Man and the Wasp give us more of these period pieces which I'm very happy to see more of.

I agree.
Part of the problem with X-Men media is that pretty much every adaptation tries to present Magneto as the ultimate archnemesis of the X-Men. The great antithesis, the ultimate evil, the number one bad guy, the adversary to end all adversaries, the final challenge, the baddest guy of all bad guys who must be thwarted at all costs.
The Green Goblin to their Spider-Man. The Lex Luthor to their Superman. The Joker to their Batman.
That. Uh. That hasn't really been true in a very long time.

Dude is crazy powerful and has solid reasons for being a villain,it's predictable I agree for him to be continually the main bad guy but the problem is that the conflict is always between him and Professor X,who is just as powerful as he is so they make a good foils for each other
What roles do you have in mind for him?

Honestly, the best team Marvel has are the Russo Brothers paired with Markus and Mc Feely. I don't know if anyone ever noticed, but since they are in the game they kind of go out of their way to kind of realign the MCU. Civil War basically made Age of Ultron better in hindsight, Infinity war somehow managed to continue the arc of all characters and movies which came beforehand while also improving on Doctor Strange and actually turning the more or less directionless Iron-man franchise into one solid arc. It's quite impressive.
