Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Not saying that they shouldn't adapt a story just because it's bad (it has shown good results), but that particular plotline was, like most of Civil War era stuff, bad.
As in really bad.
I don't get why people say the X-Men wouldn't fit in the MCU. In almost every version of the franchise, it's established that, while mutants have been around since ancient times, it's only recently that they've begun appearing in large enough numbers to make keeping their existence a secret impossible (as far as I'm aware, it's still canon in Marvel Comics that atom bomb tests releasing radiation into the atmosphere kickstarted the mutant population boom). The MCU could simply have mutants reach that population tipping point now.
I think it might more be a case of people wishing they were put in earlier. Given we're several films in and the Infinity War films are major status quo changers, that'll mean they won't get to interact with several of the heroes potentially. Plus, regardless of the justification, there will be some people who won't buy the reasoning for the X-Men and all their characters not showing up until now.
Power of Thor!Could've sworn that was backported to yhe mainline franchises...
But anyway, now that I brought up how Civil War, what are some storyline/characters you want to see redeemed in the Big Screen?
My picks are The Clone Saga and Ironheart, both of which had tons of potential brought down by shitty writing.
As in really bad.
I've grown a lot more fond of the Storm-Panther pairing since Te-Nisi Coates had Storm come back for A Nation Under Our Feet. Her appearance is amazing.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."~Mr Hellboy Your questions really aren't that long or complicated, it's just that this is a very general thread where people talk about everything MCU related. We have talked about Guardians 3 in the past, and right now we're talking about X-Men.
I still want a Silverclaw movie at some point. She's got a really cool power-set, she's a demi-god, she's got a potentially very interesting origin story, and she would add some much-needed diversity to the MCU, as a woman from South America.

Sounds lika a interesting character, but I was asking more of characters that people think are bad and thr MCU has a chance of fixing.
Also, where is Silverclaw from, X-Men?

Speaking of X-Men: Legion and Gifted are already co-owned by Disney/Marvel. The Legion episode called “What Could Have Been” explored alternate realities of the multiverse. There were talks of an Exiles TV shows and Gifted features members of that team.
So do you think we will see a crossover with other Marvel shows?

If they do Silverclaw I want her still to have been sponsored by Jarvis somehow
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

I think if Marvel incorporates the X-Men into their universe I get the distinct sense they'd try to go a different route than the Bryan Singer films. One possible solution would be to try something akin to what they did with the Avengers and do several solo films for the X-Men (Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, e.t.c) before assembling them onto a single team. Another route would be to make a X-Men movie without Wolverine but heavily tease his arrival (and probably have a post-credits scene featuring him).
Marvel has options.
