Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

So Carol was kidnapned, brainwashed and experimented on.
Not sure how I feel about that. I mean, it's Marvel and everything, but the last movie I watched with a similar premise was utter hogwash.
Other than that, the mask looks wicked cool, but the laser she shoots on top of the train looks kinda wimpy.
And seeing a adult woman punching a old lady in the face is funny in the worst way possible.
Man, I kinda miss the days of video renting.

: Not gonna lie, the second they showed it, I was like "Ha. Blockbuster."
Yeah, Blockbuster was awesome for me. Like, there was one in walking distance and I was super-bummed when they closed it forever.
But yeah, Carol's movie looks like it's gonna rock. Here's to hoping she, Tony and Steve take turns wiping the floor with Thanos in Avengers 4.
Most people in the world most likely don't get the Blockbuster reference, but I bet the US and Canada fans grinned at that one.
So, I guess there are now a few loud voices disapproving of Brie Larson judging by the comments...where are they suddenly all coming from?
Anyway, look good. I kind of get the kick out of her attacking that old lady.
Blockbuster Video.
Wow, what a difference.
Man, I miss those things. Way to remind me of what's long gone movie.
Carol missing some past memories might be a nod to when Rogue absorbed the entirety of Carol's life and background and when Xavier tried to restore them, he was only able to bring back the physical memories and not the emotions behind them.
One Strip! One Strip!Excellent trailer.
It is amusing to think what the shot of Carol punching out the old lady on the bus looked like to someone who had no idea what Skrulls are or that they'd be in the movie. Because the trailer did not explain anything about them and we only saw them in their natural state for a single brief shot.
Love the speilberg extraterrestrial film feel the trailer has in places. Blockbuster was a great choice.
Sam Jack playing a government agent pencil pusher days from retirement who discovers a seemingly escaped alien abduction escapee in the 90s is itself a great film hook.
Love the old lady sucker punch, love the helmet, oh god the helmet looks so good.
Brie is a lot more soft spoken than I've ever pictured Carol's voice. I always pictured her being butcher? Carol in this certainly dresses how I expect Carol to dress, but I'm gonna have to get used to the voice.
Coulson with a quiff? It's cool, I was kind of hoping for a nineties center parting but sure. Tintin quiff works.
There's a surprisingly menacing image of Ronan overlooking the earth, hammer in hand. I'm surprised because I didn't think this film would lend any time to Ronan becoming a baddie. I assumed he'd be like Randall in Monsters University.
There's always someone who's gonna complain about the casting, remember the backlash against Ruffalo and Evans?
Said complaints always get blown out of the water in the actual film.
Edit: I'm also okay with Carol's voice being softer, not every badass lady needs a Contralto Of Danger.

I see Captain Marvel joins Batman in the proud "punched an old lady in the face for justice" club.
I had to stop the video because I was giggling so much. The fact that that's the way the teaser establishes this takes place in the distant past of the 90's...

x3 I agree that not every woman needs to have one, but I do think that Carol does - it’s just how I read her.
