Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

In more interesting news.
Sources say that crew members, at this stage a small group that was prepping for pre-production, are being dismissed and are free to look for new work.
The Marvel project was to have been directed by James Gunn and was to have begun principal photography in the winter, either in January or February. The project was crewing up and was to have gone into full pre-production mode in the fall.
But Gunn was let go as the director in July when old tweets were resurfaced, likely in response to his vocal political posts. And while some held out hope that the director would be given a reprieve by Disney, a mid-August meeting with Disney chairman Alan Horn closed the door on that.
One person characterized the production hold as temporary and more of a "regrouping" as Marvel and Disney look for a filmmaker to take on the third installment of a franchise that has grossed over $1.6 billion and made stars out of Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldana.
"The timeline has been pushed out," says a source. Disney never set a release date for Guardians 3.
Marvel and Disney are taking a measured approach in their search for a filmmaker (one source says that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi recently had a meeting with Marvel but it is unclear what project was discussed) and with good reason.
The controversial firing has rankled the cast which in an open letter asked the studio to reinstate Gunn. Bautista, who plays the alien warrior Drax, has continued to show his disappointment on social media, and on Thursday he tagged Disney in a tweet featuring disturbing clips of Mike Cernovich, one of the conservative figures who led a campaign to get Gunn fired.
Disney had no comment.
What director is going to sign up for that considering now it's known that Disney is not going to stand behind them during a harassment campaign?
Ugh, I still have hope Gunn comes back otherwise this Got G 3 is looking like "Guardians of the Galaxy: The Dark World."
I am so okay with that.
If the original Infinity Gauntlet has a flaw its that most of the characters of the Marvel universe are just unimportant pawns for Warlock's mind games against Thanos.
Thats fine and good I guess but for the marvel cinematic universe I'd hope for more than some new golden child to suddenly show up and make the story all about him.
Dammit, the story is all about Tony! There's no room for another!
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDisney is not responsible for the James Gunn situation. They didn't to those tweet or go on questionable parties, and they didn't put the hit job out on him. They were put in an impossible situation.
But it is a good decision to delay the next movie for now. Emotions are running high at the moment and it is not like they have already announced it for a fixed date. They will either slot something else in or they will just have a year with one movie less.
Not to mention that the whole thing might not be about the James Gunn situation alone. Remember, Fox characters coming back to Marvel, and a lot of them are cosmic. Maybe it is time to readjust some plans.
Btw, I agree that I have Infinity War rather about the Avengers fighting Thanos than some cosmic being doing it.
True, but G Ot G is still a money series. They can't put it on the back burner too long
Just Makima.Taika Waititi recently met with Marvel in regards to an MCU film of an undisclosed identity

Taika directing a Squirrel Girl movie would be amazing. But yeah, it's likely GOTG 3.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.I just hope that the Only the Creator Does It Right thought doesn't weight in on his shoulders, either by the cast or crew or even himself...
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Could be Eternals too. Or another Thor movie after all.
Btw, I just discovered an amusing eastern egg and naturally can't resist to share...remember the scene at the beginning of Doctor Strange when he has to guess a instrumental piece? I was curious about it and looked it up and learned that Chuck Mangione described the editing of the original version of "Feels so good" as a "major Surgery".
Likewise, if you haven't seen a certain horror film, but know of it anyway through Cultural Osmosis.

Now I have to ask: what's the horror film?

I was mostly just joking. But in a lot of these cases it may be less of appealing to a strip-show look and more of a Cheated Angle to see what is going on.
