Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

You can also view the troops who attacked Wakanda as just being whoever happened to be in the area at the time. Why move fleets of warships across the galaxy when you can get the job done with the space equivalent of the Delaware National Guard?
Plus, it's not even a big deal if they fail. It just means Thanos has to take a few extra minutes to teleport to Earth and take care of everything himself.
Disney Stands Firm on James Gunn Not Returning to Guardians of the Galaxy

Conquering a planet isn't cost-effective if all you want is one lousy rock that happens to be on it.
Thanos tried that shit with Loki and the Chitauri and look how that turned out. This time, he went for a Smash and Grab. Even the actual infantry invasion of Wakanda was just an empty bit of spectacle. He wasn't trying to conquer Wakanda; that battle was a distraction to keep everyone busy so that no one was paying attention to Corvus Glaive seizing the prize.
It was also totally sufficient. The thing that turned the tide was the sudden arrival of Thor on the field with his shiny new axe. Before that, the Avengers were being overrun. The forces that Thanos committed to taking Wakanda performed that task adequately, with only Thor ex Machina stopping them from wiping out Wakanda's defense.
It's hard to plan for a literal god to show up out of f*cking nowhere and proceed to rend your army in twain.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Why would you need a distraction if you can stomp through them? Thanos forces have to suck so the heroes can stand a chance. Why would he give a crap about cost effectiveness if half of them are going to die anyway from the snap and he's going to retire afterwards? The bare minimum shouldn't be his strategy here.
I'm still hoping deep in my heart that they can just settle on a new director and the cast can cool it and work with him/her and we can still get something of quality. But uh, yeah, this has me weary. It's been rough being a Got G fan these days.
On my wave, passing oooooooonEspecially when you thought you'd already killed him earlier.
Also, I think it was brought up before, but Zandar getting it's entire face punched in might stem from the fact that they were probably still recovering from Ronan's earlier invasion. I mean, how much time passed between GOTG 1 and 2? I doubt they were fully recovered yet, and then Thanos came and Thanos'ed them.
One Strip! One Strip!Guardians 1 and 2 both took place in 2014, and we can plausibly assume Infinity War took place in 2018 unless stated otherwise.
I personally doubt that Ronan's assault left Xandar that badly weakened four years later. He did wipe out their entire defense force at the capital city (with the aid of the Power Stone.) Afterward, the Nova Empire should've been able to temporarily fill the hole with ships from their other planets or other cities on Xandar, especially for their capital. We even see a few Nova starfighters on Xandar in Guardians 2, during Ego's attack 2 months later.

...Danny still kinda sounding like a douche there.
Luke Cage Season 2 gave me hope, so I'm a bit annoyed.
Ah well, at least Davos will kick his ass.
And if he's not a douche, then maybe I can enjoy him...and Davos will still kick his ass.
Nothing much. But I'm just ragging on him while I still can (if this season is really better).
He does say he never wanted the Iron Fist, which goes against claims from the previous season.
Clearly, that's more than enough of a reason to be as harsh on him as possible.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, last season it was kind of a plot point that Danny only got the Iron Fist because he was the only one who wanted it. He didn't understand the responsibility and duties of the Iron Fist, which left him unprepared to carry out those duties. I guess you could say he never wanted the Iron Fist as in "I never wanted this responsibility", but he's the dumbass who asked to be the chosen one without bothering to double-check what being the chosen one actually entails.

More likely is that the line is an allusion to something he pointed out last season. He didn't want the Iron Fist per see, he just craved the respect and pride of K'un-Lun and the Iron Fist was the only thing that'd earn him that. He was indoctrinated into wanting the Iron Fist.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
Meh. I say we keep making fun of him, even if your statement makes sense.
Danny Rand is like Tony Stark: completely ok to shit on.

That could be interesting, that all they had left for Earth was the infantry because the starfighter fleet was thrashed on Xandar.
