Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'd just like to point out I have no idea what you're talking about with your recurring mentions of Hulk having "a hot girlfriend". We see no such thing in Ragnarok.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Was wondering that too, unless it's a reference to how Hulk might see Valkyrie.
As far as Ragnorak goes though, I interpreted the Hulk in that movie as having developed into a person to the point that he could interact with others and make moral choices, but was limited because he needed Banner to process sorrow and more complex emotions- and knew it, as much as he hated to admit it. Just like Banner has the greater intelligence, both intelligence and in IQ, but obviously lacks Hulk's strength and everything that goes with it. Hence that discussion/joke about Thor telling both of them he prefers them to the other.
The problem both have is that the Hulk is more complex basically because he's tapping some of Bruce's personality (which is why the Hulk's voice is now Mark Ruffalo), so it's the worst of both worlds for both of them, even though it's basically the best it's ever been for the Hulk.
Valkyrie isn't Hulk's girlfriend, though I guess you could make a case for him having a crush on her or something, especially in light of Banner babbling on about how beautiful she is while still dazed and recovering from being the Hulk for two years.
But otherwise, it's mostly spot on. If Banner were to just forsake control and let Hulk do whatever he wanted, Hulk would be all over that, but that's not what's happening. Hulk is being stubborn and trying to spite Banner.
The narrative is pretty clear that Banner and Hulk need to be on the same page and reach some sort of compromise.
There's been a lot of talk behind the scenes about how the line between the two personas is blurring and stuff like that.

It's really confusing,is Hulk Bruce's anger (as in one persona two forms) or is 'Hulk' separate entity that happens to share Bruce's mind

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverWe don’t know anything about their relationship one way or another: not enough to say they were involved, but admittedly not enough to shut down speculation about it either.
She’s canonically bi, so there definitely could have been something there, but there also may not have.

Sometimes Hulk and Banner mirror reactions and priorities, such Hulk calming down around Widow in AOU or deleted scenes from Ragnarok that had Bruce repeating some of Hulk’s statements. But Infinity War goes much further with the “split personality” treatment.

Something I've wondered about is that if Bruce were to 'let go' of his anger and find inner peace,he'd have no reason for Hulk to exist, but without the Hulk would he still die from his exposure to the Gamma radiation that created the Hulk in the first place?Like I figured his rage at dying and his repressed rage spawned the Hulk personality in the first place

The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Black Panther will be the third film to cross $700 million at the US box office[1]
A bit tangential, but I'll cross-post this: What would happen if the characters of RWBY had the Infinity Gauntlet...
Dave Bautista hinting
he may not return for future Guardians movies after Vol. 3.
If that's the case, Disney can kiss Guardians of the Galaxy goodbye because Guardians simply cannot work without Drax, and it's doubtful anyone can, or want to, fill Bautista's shoes.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherGunn can't come back.
He can't. It sucks that it happened, and it sucks why it happened (some asshole alt right people), but he can't come back.
There's no winning for Disney here. I feel like this is what the guy who exposed Gunn wanted in the first place. He wins no matter what. The best they can do is be more careful so that a guy like that never has a clear path for shit like this again, but he's essentially sitting in his swivel chair, petting his Right-Hand Cat and going Excellent!
One Strip! One Strip!I can see the Guardians working without Drax so long as they give him a proper send-off. It's when more than one or two people leave that I would start to say the team won't work.
This song needs more love.Well, Dave is the only one threatening to leave so far, but we can't be sure if it won't escalate.
Guardians may have to end with Volume 3 to be honest. If they'd already planned for that, then ok, but if not...
One Strip! One Strip! There's a good send off for Drax
You just need to reveal that his daughter somehow is alive and she invites him to her wedding
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

I really don't think it has anything to do with id or wanting out.
The Hulk in Ragnarok was the happiest we've ever seen him. He loved being the Grandmaster's Champion. To an amoral avatar of violence, do you know what the difference between smashing for the Avengers and smashing for the Grandmaster is? The Grandmaster gives him stuff. On Sakaar, he has a luxury suite and a hot girlfriend.
Thor and Banner stole that from him. Straight up stole it. Thor got him to revert to Banner and then Banner left. Hulk never even got a vote, and he'd made very clear that he had no interest or desire in ever leaving.
They forced him to leave a place where he was worshipped and beloved so that he could go get beat up by Thanos for someone else's fight. The Avengers aren't paying him in luxury suites and hot girlfriends. They're just using him to fight their enemies and then shoving him back in the bottle when they're done with him.
He was already fed up with them when he stole a Quinjet and ragequit the team before, and now he's gotten a taste of freedom. A taste that was stolen from him by the people he was fed up with, who are now telling him he needs to go smash their enemies for free. So. Y'know. F*ck those guys.
The Hulk has run out of reasons to care about fighting other people's battles. He was done with this bullshit a long time ago and now he's sticking to it. He doesn't care about the greater good. He doesn't care about threats to Earth. And these people are not his friends.
Hulk want luxury suite and the adoration of millions of screaming fans.
