Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

new layout wut dis
I saw Iron Man 3 last night while it was on TV. Or rather, I caught it when it was at the point where Ellen Brandt attacked Tony. Anyway, it was...okay I guess? Some cool/amusing moments (the gag with Rhodey's password was kinda funny) but it didn't leave much of an impression. Watchable but so-so. Also yeah, you guys weren't kidding about Aldrich Killian. What a lame, lame villain (with an ugly mullet). I wish I had more to say. I probably would if I watched it again all the way through. But for now it's in my bottom 3 or so MCU movies I've seen, only above Age of Ultron and Doctor Strange.
On my wave, passing oooooooonI very much doubt it. The general trend for the sequels so far is to outgross their predecessors, with the only exception being Age of Ultron. And given that the first Ant-Man was one of the MCU's lowest-grossing entries, it wouldn't be very hard for the sequel to do better.
Despite all its problems both ethical and narrative I still enjoy it, but not nearly as much as I used to. I'd probably put it in the bottom third since it's been eclipsed by nearly all other Phase 2 films and every one of the Phase 3 films barring Dr Strange. It mostly eludes the absolute bottom by coasting on RDJ's considerable charm and being more coherent than Iron Man 2.
Well, Ironman 3 has also the Mandarin twist going for it (yes, I like the idea, I just don't like how they get there and with what the Mandarin gets replaced) and the ski jumping scene, which is still one of the best action scenes in the MCU.
Ant-man and the Wasp doesn't have that high of a mountain to climb. Nobody expects it to be more than a modest success. And it has good wom. Don't expect it to jump high early, though. For one, I don't think that there is the same urgency to see the movie as other Marvel movies create and two, for once a lot of countries will get the movie with a delay (because we are currently all busy watching the World Cup, which is unusually exiting this time around), so it will take some time until Ant-man and the Wasp really reaches the big numbers. I expect it to be one of those movies which don't start overly strong, but eventually gets there due to having legs. Marvel's timing couldn't be better, it will be weeks before another Superhero movie can challenge this one.
Spiderman: Home is where the heart is Spiderman: Home alone Spiderman: Home again Spiderman: Homing Spider Spiderman: A new Home
I feel like giving our views on Iron Man 3 is akin to Sisyphus being cursed to push the boulder up the hill forever.
However, I don't think I've ever mentioned how much I love the dynamic between Tony and the kids in this film? Best thing about Shane Black is his ability to direct a child actor. And I really like the character point that Tony treats kids as equals. It's kind of cool that Tony can be a lot more emotionally honest with kids?
After three films of Tony being an asshole, seeing him be good with kids was exactly what we needed.
Best thing is how it pays off later on...because in this movie, he pretty much refuses to take up any kind of mentor role for the kid. He just throws money/stuff at him but otherwise shows no interest in guiding him. But after the Ultron incident, Tony is talking the first time about maybe having a family in a joking mode. A few movies later though he is ready to takes up a mentor role for Peter and the next time we see him he is actually talking to Pepper about the possibility of having children.
Don't know if this has been posted yet, but here you go: https://www.cbr.com/power-pack-movie-kevin-feige/
Backdoor pilot a Power Pack cartoon through the Moon Girl one.
Mainly because I'd love to see Moon Girl interact with more heroes her approximate age. It'd be great.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI dunno if we're still talking about Disney, but Here's a little something I've been working on.
I remember doing something like that, but with Nintendo. I was most proud of Lysandre as Alexander Pierce, Little Mac as Luis ('cause they knock people out with mega punches), Gonzap as Adrian Toomes (with Skarmory wingsuit), Shura as Yondu, and Melissa Bergman as Arnim Zola, with Mother Brain replacing Zola's computer form and a classic self-destruct replacing the HYDRA missile strike.
