Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Hmm...
Psychic/Flying = Vision
Bug/Psychic = Mantis
Steel/Flying = Falcon, War Machine
Dark/Steel = Nebula
Ground/Dark = Gamora?
Bug/Steel = Spider-Man, Ant-Man
Bug/Flying = Wasp
Electric/Fighting or Electric/Steel = Thor?
Ghost/Fire or Fire/Dark = Ghost Rider
Bug/Dark or Bug/Poison = Black Widow
Grass/Ground = Groot
Dark/Fighting = Black Panther
On my wave, passing oooooooonAside from the fact that she looks like and is named after a bug, there's nothing bug-like about Mantis.

This song needs more love. Why is Bucky Ground-type besides the fact that he's currently dirt har har? I figure Fighting/Steel would fit him better.
Also should note that "Dark" type is known as "Evil" type in Japan, and while there are some elements of Casting a Shadow from time to time "Dark" Pokemon tend to be those who are some kind of Combat Pragmatist, sadist, or criminal.
Corroborating, Dark-type Pokemon are known for what's typically considered "dirty tricks" and "dishonorable" fighting styles. Groin shots, sucker punches, biting, pretending to cry in order to set your foe up for a sneak attack, etc.
That's important context to keep in mind when throwing around the "Dark" typing.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. When it comes to magic references, Pokemon tends to use either the Fairy or Psychic types (though Misdreavus is a Ghost type), so characters like Wong and Dr. Strange would be one of those.
I'd probably pin Strange as Psychic / Ghost or Fairy / Ghost, to reference the Astral Plane. And Wong as pure Psychic or Fairy.
I'd almost consider Star Lord for Dark type because he has a very tricksy fighting style, at least in the first movie
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

Nah, I think it goes like this:
Ground: Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Starlord, Spider-Man, Drax, Mantis, Groot, Falcon, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Matt Damon, Betty Ross, and Sif
