Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

RE: Avengers 4 synopsis:
Oof. After that ending to Infinity War and reading that synopsis, I half-expect/want someone to do an MCU version of this trailer
for the feels/that heartbreaking sense of "everything ends".
Everything stays. Right where you left it. Everything stays. But it still changes.

Well, it's more like an End of an Era type of film, but yeah, I would love to see that.

Heh, I see what you did there...

All very good. some spoilers tho.
So question, guys, what are your feelings about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie? Do you think it looks promising?
It’s very hard to say, considering we haven’t seen any trailers for it. All we have are a few stills, which seem...promising, I guess?
Oh God! Natural light!Well, if I hadn't been interested beforehand, Infinity War made sure that I would be. But independent of this, I am pretty exited about the characters which are supposed to be in it, the cast is brilliant and I kind of look forward to fill in the timeline a little bit more.
A lot will hinge on the marketing though. For now I am looking forward to Ant-man and the Wasp.
There's not a lot to go on at the moment in regards to Captain Marvel.
All I can say is that the cast and crew are qualified, at least on paper. I'm sure that's going to change once the marketing starts, but that might not be for awhile yet.
The only thing we have to go on involves a spoiler for Infinity War but to be as vague as possible There is some implication that Carol Danvers is a sort of "weapon of absolute last resort" that has been held in reserve through all the crises the MCU has faced in the modern era. Which if nothing else implies that the MCU iteration of the character has at least the potential to reach "nuclear weapon in human form" levels of power.

I think it was mentioned early on by Feige that Carol would be the strongest lead superhero in the MCU, whatever that means. Infinity War shows that Thor is already pretty freaking strong, so I imagine they're going to have her tap into some of her Binary powerset where she had abilities on the level and nature of a star.

Maybe this film will change your mind about her.
So how long until we get Ultra Instinct Captain Marvel Videos?
One Strip! One Strip!

In the comics there is sometimes a situational aspect to Mjolnir.
That in a time of great need a mostly worthy person like Superman could life the mighty mallet Mjolnir.
Moot point now.
