Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, part of the problem with Age of Ultron was that there was no big team up we hadn't seen already, only newly introduced characters. I can't wait to see the Guardians interact with the Avengers (especially Peter with Steve and Rocket with Bucky), and Doctor Strange interacting with Tony, and Spider-Man just interacting with everyone.
Thankfully I am pretty sure that M&Ms know this perfectly well, considering how much time they manage to sneak in just to show the interaction between Bucky and Sam in Civil War.

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverOdd question: y/n on revealing that MCU Peter Parker was almost molested as a child? On the one hand, the comic is infamous for being awkward, uncomfortable, and one of the most blatant examples of A Very Special Issue. On the other, I just learned that there are apparently people who survived sexual abuse and look to Spider-Man as an inspiration (while still acknowledging that the comic is bad).
Oh my god, what did Tony Stark do now?
Seriously though, I don't see any point. Especially the way you said it reeks too much of Ripped from the Headlines. I think Spider-Man is not the character to do this
While a sudden and horrifying swerve, he's a character everyone knows and loves who had it happen to him.
Making the people it happened to feel more normal and comfortable knowing it can happen to anyone.
Which I say as someone who is speaking for a relative who deeply identified with another famous character who had a Very Special Episode.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I don't trust the movies to handle such a topic with the dignity and respect necessary.
This song needs more love.So Thanos is getting a prequel novel detailing his origin
.
The editor later claimed that they received an urgent email claiming the book isn't canon, but I think it's because the summary seems to accidentally spoil that Thanos gets the Stones in Infinity War, even if that was sort of a Foregone Conclusion.

Warning for possible spoilers in the summary. This is very interesting, though I hope this doesn't mean that they'll leave Thanos flat as cardboard in the movie and have his backstory be All There in the Manual in this book. I'm totally going to read it either way, but I see the popularity of this book living and dying by how compelling Thanos is in Infinity War.

ACK!
Nobody lay a finger on that spoiler-tag! And if you're going to do it because reverse psychology, then at least spoiler-tag whatever you have to say about the spoiler!
Speaking of spoilers, you guys know how Alfred Hitchcock went out of his way to make sure no one found the twist to Psycho before they saw it in theaters? Even going so far as to have posters saying no one's allowed to sit in
◊ once the movie starts?

You think the Russos and Marvel Studios will go just as far with any and all Infinity War spoilers?

I on the other hand am getting extremely antsy waiting for all of the spoilers to drop. All of them.

This song needs more love.

Actually, most X-Men would probably be great at rapping provided they made it through either the Claremont era or 90s
You know those giant speech bubbles they would make as they did one action?
Imagine applying that kind of speed to rapping. They could rap modern major general
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
