Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Also Smallville have the same idea of transforming Darkside into a living planet.
I guess because transforming something so powerfull into a human size villian come as narmy and downsizing the threat of said villian.
And to be fair, they are not wrong about it.

The problen with people and Galactus is they keep assuming audiences will not accept a giant 300 ft tall man in a helmet that devours worlds.
I disagree.
I think the people who come to see the Fantastic Four or Avenger vs. Galactus come to see a giant man in a helmet.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.
Both suit are waaaaaaay diferent and you know it.
I mean I dont mind a guy with a suit but Galatus have been always play as weird primordial force rathern than just a guy with a suit.
It feel one of those thing that have to be adapted like it is because is in the comic, god damit it!.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Galactus is a difficult character for a movie (especially nowadays, where they're more rigidly giving heroes a "certain kind of thing they fight" that's consistent throughout any of their movies and eschew most everything else) because, by definition, for those he's a threat to he's the ultimate Outside-Context Problem. He has no connection to anything on Earth, no real way to set up, his herald just shows up and a day later he appears to kill everything. A lot of Jack Kirby's more huge, godlike threats suffer from this, and under a lesser writer many of them just devolve into Generic Doomsday Villains rather than make an earnest attempt to circumvent that and instead introduce their complexity.
So I'd really want him to be introduced through a heavily cosmic series, where he and his very interesting role in the universe would be far more able to shine, than an Earth-based one. Then again, I really want Fantastic Four to have a "cosmic explorers" themed movie series (a la Star Trek or Lost in Space - not the movie) anyway.

I wouldn't call Age of Ultron anti-technology. After all the solution for getting a grip on a dangerous out of control robot is to create another, more powerful being. And the solution to rescue the people trapped in Sokovia is a giant Helicarrier.
It is more that it is pro human influence. Tony wants a shield around the world, but the actual SHIELD proofs to be more effective in an actual emergency, despite the obvious flaws in Shield itself. Tony strives for perfection and feels that he will find it in machinery. Steve always believes in humans. The solution is like always a balance between both point of views. Steve needs Tony's technology, but Tony can really use some of Steve's trust in humanity.

Also, while Thanos is just the first thread, he have been foreshowing to death, I mean we have been waiting TWENTY DAMN MOVIES to find him, any villian after him will be tough thing to sell.
