Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I always wanted to have a mutant really really hate Magneto while the X-men were always defending him and then mention it's because his human family died in one of his random "Unless X mutants are freed and the world is turned over to me, I will shut off the power across the United States" events ala Fatal Attraction.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Emma Frost and Magneto are both in the same boat where they don't really become good guys as much as keep being themselves but now they're hanging out with the X-Men. And slightly toned down. Magneto tried not to murder people in front of the New Mutants and Emma tries not to steal Iceman's body more than necessary.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHonestly, generation X and maybe Astonishing X-men are the only books in which Emma Frost can be considered a "good guy". Most every one of her other appearances has her acting the same way she did when she was the White Queen, only now it's ok because she's a member of the X-men. At least Magneto went to trial and renounced his villainous ways (even if he did go back on them later).
No but he did make insulting comments about autistic people where he talked about how he didn't want to give "false hope" to people on the autism spectrum by having the various quirky characters he played labelled as being autistic. Which of course gives off the nasty and condescending implication that people on the spectrum such as myself are all helpless and unable to get anywhere in the world.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Hmm, so the guy makes insensitive comments that are easy to intepret in pretty horrible ways?
I mean, to me that sounds like "Oh, I played the character quirky, but script and writers never told me they were autistic, so I don't want to make audience get their hopes up about representation in case it turns out later that show makes it very clear character isn't on the spectrum"? Then again, I'm being in "I like debating" mood so who knows. I do feeling like that is assuming extra hostility and intent than what was said though.

Honestly I don't know what his Sherlock is on that show, everything about it sounds garbage anyways.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Sherlock's okay to start with but it went off track basically because they forgot it was supposed to be a detective show and became more obsessed with pandering to the fans and letting Sherlock do whatever the hell he felt like. Essentially it became post-season 5 new Doctor Who.
The moment I lost all hope was season 3, because there's two whole episodes devoted to Sherlock and Watson fucking around and the final one starts off really interestingly with one of the series's best villains but he beats Sherlock... who just shoots him in the head. And essentially suffers zero consequences. Because by this point they'd given up trying to write plots.
That video sums up a lot of it though there's also some bits I don't quite agree with, it should be said.
I'd also say that while he's totally right that Moffat let the Doctor expand and take over the show... he more or less staved it off from ruining the show for the first season he had (season 5) and those elements were also totally present before he became showrunner.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"

Obviously a ton of people died getting lost in the wilderness when their compasses pointed south instead of north.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
