Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think it's charmingly goofy. No different than the dumb goofy ads Robert Downey Jr. has put out. I seriously don't get all the hate towards Cumberbatch.
Something I've been wondering: who do you perceive as the "protagonist" of the MCU? Really, there's only two logical answers: Steve and Tony, but I'm curious to see who is chosen by whom and why. I think Steve feels more like the protagonist. Tony hasn't had his own film since right after Avengers 1, while Steve's films are more spread out. The Avengers films also tend to follow up on Captain America more than they do the other Avengers, such as Avengers showing Steve acclimating to the modern world and how Age of Ultron starts with HYDRA, following up on Winter Soldier. Finally, Steve's third film literally has Tony as the main antagonist.
I think an argument can be made that Thor is a third Co protagonist.
So it's looking like De Wanda Wise is playing Monica Rambeau's mother and Monica might even appear as a child in Captain Marvel?
That's a cool angle if true. Could lend itself to some culture shock when Carol finally Gets Off The Bus after Avengers 4, only to discover this kid she knew is now in her thirties.
I don't know if I'd argue Thor as a thord co protagonist
The arc plot has been about the ideological differences between Cap and Tony as an outside context threat looks
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't get it, it's electromagnetic spectrum, surely hard magnetism, levitation and electricity would already make him insanely dangerous, but they have to keep adding more and more BS uses.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Didn't he completely flip the Earth's poles once, killing a ton of people?
