Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They have not, but there are some who feel that Civil War strongly hinted at one. Specifically, the line from T'Challa to Zemo when he stopped him from killing himself: "The world is not done with you yet."
That's kind of a weird line. It's poetic but kinda meaningless from a Watsonian perspective. It feels like it's there just for the Doylist meaning: "We still need you for another movie we have planned."
And when people think of Marvel properties that would be difficult to adapt without Zemo, Thunderbolts is the first example that comes to mind. It's far from confirmation, but it's definitely in the "Don't be surprised if they announce X" category.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.No, it works well enough from a Watsonian perspective. "Nah, you don't get to kill yourself. You go to jail, bitch."
My various fanfics.Going to jail has nothing to do with the words that were said. "The world is not done with you," sounds like there's some grand cosmic destiny that Zemo still needs to fulfill. It's literally saying that the entire planet is invested in his continued survival.
Which makes sense from the perspective of, "You need to be alive for the next movie that you're going to star in," but not nearly as much sense from the perspective of T'Challa.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That seems like a really cruel reading of a scene that's defined as T'Challa embracing mercy.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's really not.
It's a stretch to suggest that T'Challa, at the climactic resolution to his character arc, went in five seconds from "I'm through being consumed by vengeance," to "LOL I'm going to savor watching you suffer for your crimes!" There is no room in this scene for a cruel motive in saving Zemo.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I think the problem is that Tobias is getting the line wrong and is therefore, as he is wont to do (love you, though), extrapolating on how dumb the movie universe is and how much smarter he is. The line is "The living are not done with you yet." And, in case I missed something, the courts are operated by living people.

My various fanfics.Yeah Tobias, I really think you're grossly misreading T'Challa's line here (which by the way, yes it is "the living are not done with you yet", not the world, for whatever difference that makes). He's not being deliberately cruel, he's just saying that Zemo doesn't get to take the easy way out and has to properly be punished for his crimes no matter what the pain he's suffered. That's not him being vindictive, that's just him wanting justice.
It's really that simple.

Agreed.
Not on the insulting Tobias thing; that wasn't necessary. But on the actual intent behind T'challa stopping Zemo from killing himself.
.... WHY!!!?
Edit: apologies. I'm not asking why it didn't make more. I'm asking why the worst of the Raimi Spidey movies made the most money.

One Strip! One Strip!

Is there even a point in a second trailer? The movie is less than two months away, just use commercials.
