Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I found Marvelsilver to be quite memorable.
- Trying to grab Mjolnir.
- That awesome moment where he unloads and lines up the bullets from Klaue's gun in a blink.
- Stealing candy.
- His protectiveness and affection for his sister, showcased repeatedly.
- Mobilizing the evacuation of Sokovia. (fires off an assault rifle into the air) "Get off your asses."
- And, of course, that speech about days spent staring at a Stark explosive that he shares with Wanda.
Marvelsilver's a delight every time he's onscreen.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Marvel overdid it a little bit in phase 2.....
Ironman 3: Oh no, Pepper is dead - oh, wait, she isn't (and that one was really pointless, RDJ didn't even time to act out his grief) Thor The Dark World: Oh no, Loki is dead (again) - oh wait, he isn't The Winter Soldier: Oh no, Fury is dead and we saw him dying so this time - never mind, he is okay. And Bucky is back (though I wouldn't necessarily count Bucky into the trope, it is at the very last a very rewarding take on the notion). Got G: Oh no, Groot is dead - oh, there is Baby Groot (and yes, we now know that Baby Groot isn't really Groot, but that wasn't exactly clear back then.)
The complete list of characters which were thought to be dead in universe at one point or another includes: Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Pepper Potts, Nick Fury, Phil Coulson, Loki (twice!), Danny Rand and Daredevil.

I mean...what does it say when I didn't remember most of those until you mentioned them?
(And that's not a rhetorical question, btw)

Oh God! Natural light!> fires off an assault rifle into the air)
bullets shot into air will eventually come down and injure people who happen to be under them,i know he needed to get people to leave urgently but my inner gun safety critic won't shut up about it

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverTyped in Quicksilver more stuff pops in about the Fox version.
Went to Youtube the Foxsilver video with the most views as around 15 millions view while the highest Marvelsilver is 4.5 million with Foxsilver in general having more videos with high views.
They shouldn't have killed off Marvelsilver cause Foxsilver's appearance in Apocalypse cemented him as the definitive version.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Certainly, I'd rather have them do their own thing with Wanda (which the X-Men movies never tried to do, for whatever reason - were they not allowed) than compete with a version of the character who already had some established popularity.
Oh God! Natural light!Eh, Fox's take on quicksilver has this awesome made "time in a bottle" scene. But one scene doesn't make a good character. I actually liked Marvel's take better. Also less problematic, but Fox's Quicksilver is so overpowered, he could have solved Days of Future past with no problems whatsoever hadn't they left him on the tarmac for some reason.
I liked Marvelsilver being such a smug ass, even up to his last words
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHe can outrun bullets just fine, but he cannot outrun Joss Whedon's incompetence. No man can.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Let's be fair to Whedon, he would hardly be the first person to inflict Forgot About His Powers to a speedster.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I think it's fair to say that Marvel Quick Silver was an idiot
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverHe'd said in the past that the problem with trying to kill a Marvel hero is that it's not like killing someone on Buffy or Firefly. Disney and Marvel both have to approve and think whatever the death scene is going for is good enough to justify cancelling a potential franchise and cutting off a bunch of merchandise revenue. So he got around that by introducing three new Avengers (none of whom really have solo potential) and then killing one at the end. The problem is that in a big ensemble film, any new character is going to struggle for meaningful screentime or development, so his death fell flat for a lot of people, since it's like he was just in the movie to die at the end so Whedon could say "See! Ultron killed an Avenger! This is a serious threat!"
It's sort of like how in big comic crossovers, they'll try to make the threat seem serious by killing off some D-list hero that the audience likely has no connection to, which only serves to further emphasize the Contractual Immortality the A-listers have.
He also dies when Ultron's threat has already pretty much ceased to be as he's been essentially defeated, so it's truly pointless.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."To be more precise, DC and Marvel haven't "figured it out" because the way they set up their universes as never ending soaps puts some pretty severe constrictions on what they can do. Not necessarily just by definition, but in the sense that the company changes hands and a good decision or growth of a character can easily be done away with by people who care more about what they grew up with than what makes for a good story.
That's true, but there is also the matter of the difference in value between the life of a hero (who won't die, or will likely be resurrected) and a villain (who can die easily if he hasn't reached A-level status, and will die if he is below that). So you end up with stories wil multiple fatalities...but never among heroes.
A fun book for Marvel to do would be "What If? Time actually progressed as it should"
Starting in the sixties with the characters introduced there and then in brief go through the years as characters actually age and dying means you dead.
It'd be fun to see what the marvel universe would look like now. Although you'd probably have to cheat a little given the disparity of when characters were introduced
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

Helps that he's alive & thus appeared in more than one movie.
So unless he gets resurrected in Infinity War..........
