Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

And (starring) Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. The TV situation is a fair bit better.

Sitwell was pretty good in that he had a role across multiple films and his character pre or post-reveal was never stereotypical, but it’s annoying that there’s no other Latinx figures in authority in the films to match his niche.
Luis is closer to a stereotype, but his actor’s improv put a lot more life into the character than the script intended.
He's one of my favorite bits of the movie actually
Did we see him in the new trailers because I'd be sad if he were gone
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYou know what?
Make Sue and Johnny Storm Latinx. They made him black in Fanfourstick, you can race lift them to something else.
You see race lifting all the time but it’s always to make a redhead black. (Ex - Iris West and Starfire). How about doing it in another direction?

The problem is most of that is Agents of SHIELD, and to be frank, a lot of people don’t watch it. I know giving the Fantastic Four a Race Lift seems like a radical idea, but is it? Given all the other changes to ethnicities, is it?
What were you thinking? I don’t like the idea of taking away Ben though, since a Brooklyn Jewish character isn’t super common.

Actually, go the extra mile and make Ben Latino too. There's plenty of Jewish Latinos out there. And hell, family is kind of a big deal in Latin American culture, and the Fantastic Four have the whole theme of being a family. You could actually make a decent thing with this.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? There are Black Jewish people.
But I don't think you want to racelift the one guy who permanently is trapped as a horrible orange rockman and complains about being a monster.
My various fanfics.Sorry, I don't watch Ao S but I should have been more specific.
Late reply, but they did make Sue Latino for a couple of movies.

I know, but entertainment news isn't overly nuanced, so what they'll take is "terrible racelifted FF movie being followed up by another racelifted FF movie: Marvel fails to learn from Fox's mistakes".
People who make movies I like just keep disappointing me. First Trank following up Chronicle with F4, then Rian Johnson following up Looper with The Last Jedi.
Lesson: there are some directors who just don't mesh well with franchise films. And, in the case of Trank, being given a blockbuster can go to people's heads.

I highly doubt they would pick up on that as a "mistake". Also, I'd hardly compare The Last Jedi to Fant4stic at all.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

There's also sadly underused secret warrior Joey and worse than petty Agent Sitwell
