Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm guessing that's it's probably a more standard Kree military uniform (Ultimate Comics Mar-vell had a similar color scheme on his outfit).. They might have her change colors later on, to make it more "her own thing."
It could also explain where she's been since the 90's, and why they haven't mentioned her in the MCU yet. She ends up out in space as an officer in the Kree military.

I find that doubtful mainly because the Kree's tendency towards Always Chaotic Evil portrayals seems to be carrying over to the MCU. I know the films don't care about the show's depiction of them as one-dimensional evil forces powered by sadism, but the films haven't exactly done much better with them.
In the films, they've only shown up in the first Guardians, and that was to go "Meh. Your problem, not mine! Toodles!" when one of their own started butchering Xandarians.
It's pretty unlikely that we're going to suddenly get a sympathetic enough portrayal of the Kree military to justify the hero of an MCU film voluntarily flying off to serve as one of their soldiers, fighting wars and conquering peoples in their name.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Perhaps, but it could be a Kree suit Mar-Vell has lying around that he gives her. They are likely going with his comic origin of being a Kree defector who falls in love with Carol Danvers. Particularly since when she first got her powers, she was aided by a specialized Kree uniform that allowed her to fly and stuff.
This could easily be something similar.

Costume looks cool. Was going to say wrong color, but was noted on my Twitter feed that this looks like an outfit Mar-vell wore in an early appearance, so yes, i's probably supposed to be Kree military.
My guess is that she'll start with this and then her red outfit will be a Captain Patriotic spin once she's back on Earth.
The Infinity War Funko of Thor leaked out on Reddit. Spoilers but check it out.
Axe confirmed. Looks a bit like Ultimate Mjolnir as well.

A really interesting video about the three act structure using The Avengers as example.
I actually disagree with the definition in the end - my issue with it is that it assumes that every movie has a protagonist which makes decisions. Which is not the case in movies like "M", which still has a really clear structure - but it is a really good examination of the key turns in The Avengers.

Based on what we know of them from Guardians, the Kree of twenty years ago would probably be worse. Guardians indicates that the peace treaty with Xandar is a relatively recent thing.
Modern Kree are at least willing to pretend they aren't imperialist monsters.
Besides, not changing much over centuries and even millennia is kind of the Kree's thing. They're obsessed with finding a way to evolve their species. It's why they started the Inhuman project in the first place. The comic event Galactic Storm even features the Kree's leader, the Supreme Intelligence, committing galactic genocide against his own people in an attempt to restart their evolution through desperation.

It is confirmed that Shuri is the smartest person in the MCU world
.
Doctor Doom might need to amend his nemesis list.
Honestly it doesn't matter to me what race, gender, ethnicity, etc the character is. The notion that a writer feels the needs to go "oh my character is the bestest, smartest, strongest, etc that there is" to hype them up, has always felt lame to me.
Like Shuri is super-smart, I got no problems at all with that. But do you really have to try and claim that she's smarter than Tony Stark, and Howard Stark, and Hank Pym, and Bruce Banner, and T'Challa, etc? And I'd say that about any character really.
I wonder how they're going to show her being the smartest person in the MCU Earth. I mean, I can kind of buy it, if Wakanda is supposed to be 100 or so years ahead of the rest of the world, technology-wise, I can buy that a child prodigy from Wakanda outstrips everyone else on the planet. I'm just curious how they're going to communicate that. Are they going to have a scene in Infinity War where she, Tony, Rocket, and Bruce are in a room trying to figure out how to harness the energy of an Infinity Stone and her technobabble is more advanced than the others?
If they don't bother to show her being the smartest person in MCU Earth and have that affect the plot, then there's no point in mentioning such a thing in an interview. I'm also curious how this is going to affect Reed Richards when the Fantastic 4 finally get the adaptation they've been waiting for, since his whole shtick is being the smartest person on earth, and possibly in the universe.
I agree with this.
When I was younger, I cared a lot more about the whole "Seven Smartest People on Earth" thing in the comics, but unless everyone's an Omnidisciplinary Scientist, it's really just a stupid pissing contest.

Is that a prototype suit or something?
