Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Now that I think about it, Arcade could be a good villain too, though to some casual fans he might be too much like the Joker. I can see the movie version of Murderworld having demented versions of Disney rides and attractions, like a "Hall of Villains" featuring robotic versions of MCU villains attacking Spidey. Yeah, it sounds kind of cheesy, but IMO we'll need some "breather" films after Infinity War (plus, I kind of dig the whole amusement park of horrors thing, is there a trope for that?).
There was a good Silver Age comic where Mysterio shrank Spider-Man and put him in a miniature Amusement Park of Doom (in reality it was just illusions, with Peter's subconscious filling in the blanks due to the tiny amusement park table model Mysterio had shown him beforehand). They could either combine Arcade and Mysterio into one character or have the two be a double act, like Shocker and Vulture, and just adapt that story as the climax of the film.

Here's the right link[1]

His real name was N'Jadaka in the comics but legally changed it to Erik Killmonger
It's too bad that the MCU and Netflix shows are separate, as there could be a really funny scene of Killgrave and Killmonger commiserating over their edgelord chosen last names.
Also, I had a question regarding Homecoming in terms of the chronology of the MCU. So, at the end, Tony is going to unveil Spider-Man as a new Avenger, but I was wondering who the Avengers are at this point. So obviously Tony and Vision and I'd guess Rhodes, assuming he's using the version of his suit that is a prosthesis. But I can't really see a three (or even four, counting Spidey) member team being considered as The Avengers, despite how powerful they are.
So, are we to assume that at least one member of Team Cap has rejoined at this point? Because while Black Panther would hypothetically be interested, my understanding of the chronology is that at this point he'd be focused on trying to rule his country.
Basically, I'm kind of figuring that Homecoming is being deliberately vague here and counting on Black Panther and Infinity War to fill things in.

I very much doubt Panther is considered an Avenger. In addition from sheltering Bucky and giving Team Cap safe haven (at least temporarily), he was only ever working with Tony when he thought it would help him get revenge.
And there is precedent for an Avengers team with only four people
◊, so that was probably what Tony had in mind. Iron Man, War Machine, Vision and Spider-Man wouldn’t have been a bad roster.
That makes sense. I think my confusion was whether the three person group of Tony, Rhodes, and Vision was operating as The Avengers in the interim or whether after a hiatus, Tony planned to reintroduce an Avengers team consisting of himself, Rhodes, Vision, and Spider-Man. I guess the latter. But the three member team is pathetic in both a sad and amusing way. Sort of like what happens when a band breaks up.
It'd make for a fun set-up where they fight a villain good at subverting technology. Besides Ultron, of course.
Like how the Iron Man Armored Adventures made Living Laser's schtick that his powers overload Iron Man's suits.

No question that they are a formidable team. But they don't really have the diversity in powers that makes for a superhero/Avengers team. Or diversity in membership since besides Tony, the other members are his best friend/sidekick who uses an essentially identical suit and an android Tony created from a preexisting AI.
Like I think they should probably call themselves Tony Stark and the Metal Men or something like that rather than The Avengers.

Looking through the Marvel, she might be a good villain for that sort of thing
. Not that Marvel has the kind of time to actually do anything with it. Cap's team of Avengers didn't any stories before they split up, so I doubt Tony, Rhodey and Vision would either.

Yep.
And then you find him robbing a convenience store, and defeat him in a single hit. It was pretty hilarious.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
