Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

probably some cushy prep school.
Someone noticed a cameo in the leaked footage
. Okay, come on. That has to be intentional, right?
Just watched the clip and yeah it's there. Whether or not it's supposed to be seeing as how it's unfinished footage is another question.
This song needs more love.Captain Marvel will be in Avengers 4
and she has a scene with the Hulk.

it's not strictly speaking a cameo, more of a Shout-Out. There being a Kree who also apparently happens to be a never nude.
Disney and 21st Century Fox are back in talks to discuss buying Fox assets

I'll be happy if they just take the rights to the fantastic Four and leave everything else, although Spiderman hanging out with Deadpool will be a missed opportunity for those who read the comics
Also,I've been catching up on Marvel films thanks to the free trial on Netflix, and I've just finished watching Antman, great film and I could not stop laughing at the enlarged Thomas tank engine

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverHonestly I'm mixed because I think Logan was easily the best superhero movie of the year so far, and that Fox was finally getting their groove back by tackling untapped niches in the superhero genre (R-rated comedy with Deadpool, R-rated western with Logan, and now horror with New Mutants).
I'd be happy if Marvel got Doom and Galactus though. Once Thanos is over, Doom is the ideal candidate for a villain that could be used in future Avengers movies.
It was an interview from when Mikkelsen auditioned for a previous Fantastic Four. They apparently had him wave his arms around (like they were stretching and bending) until he politely asked to be excused.
...He would still make a great Doom, though, damn. He was completely underused as Kaecilius.

Has he ever really done a Large Ham villain, though? Every time I've seen him he's been the more soft-spoken type and that is like the exact opposite of Doom.

Funny, I was watching Hannibal the last few weeks and this exact thought crossed my mind.

The MCU is low going forward on big, global but terrestrial threats, and Doom would be a great way to change that.
They can’t use the Leader, they already did HYDRA loads of times, the Mandarin is a quagmire I doubt they’ll ever revisit, they screwed up AIM, Osborn - if we even get him - is years away, and as fantastic as their spin on Zemo was it’s 50/50 on whether he would end up leading he Masters in this version (they could always use Justine Hammer or something, but with the way they screwed up her father he very name might be mud).
It seems like a waste to have the Avengers go into or against space every time when there’s a whole library of foes at their fingertips, but while they do have loads of other global or Avenger-level Earthborne threats (Marvels been around for decades, after all), there aren’t many that can believably unite the team and being the hype for a whole plot the way Doom can.
I wouldn't worry too much about Deadpool. Even if Fox and Disney come to an agreement before the year is over (and they might), and even if they really hurry up to get the basics done before the US government has stabilized (just in case), it will take time until everything has truly moved over to Disney. By the time Disney has shuffled all those rights safely back to Marvel, we might already be sick of Deadpool.
Most of the directors aso seem to be pretty unconcerned about their various projects. It is more the management and administrative staff which is worried about their job getting cut in the merger.
@Unsung: My vote would be for Nightmare. I want to see what can be done with Strange's trippy visuals when he's up against a Dream Weaver. Particularly since every single film aside from Strange and The Day the Earth Stood Still that Scott Derrickson has directed or written has been a horror film.
Imagne the Nightmare on Elm's Street shenanigans Nightmare would be up to.
